excellent, we love to hear about it..
I have a long history of taking fwd hatchbacks down questionable roads, as well as my old RWD Ford trucks.. so far chains have gotten me out of everything I got myself into..
looking forward to trying the Maverick FWD in the bad bits ;-)
ayup..
my XL feels like a luxury car to me.
it's a great Sport Trac replacement too, actually a major upgrade.
Couldn't be happier..
going to get the canoes out on it soon..
excellent, good-looking truck..
I'm waiting for my ARE in Atlas Blue, got antsy with the nice spring weather and finally got myself out to order it..
$2810 from a Denver company, with full open glass windows and roof rack rails, that is more than my last truck (pre-Maverick) cost altogether...
the Sync 4 does let me play the Pulsar music from my phone, but I usually am in Android Auto and not in Sync 4. I don't remember if I can see my Pulsar folders from Sync 4 - will have to test..
another vote for Pulsar.
I am using the free version, found it so useful that I am going to buy the premium one.
Another trick I've used to keep my organization of music in the teeth of the app's determination to recategorize everything, is MP3Tag. This allows a simple update to an entire...
thanks for the video..
I'm still running the OEM Continental tires, will do until they need replacement.
Then will definitely be looking at AT, do enough bad dirt road driving that the AT is a noticeable improvement over road tires. Atturo trail blade A/T is currently on my old Ford and I've...
didn't expect to love driving it as much as I do..
the hybrid is very quick off the line, rips up the CO hills with ease, and handles nicely for a truck.
Went to cut our Christmas tree in the forest, and was very pleased with the way it handled the twisty steep roads. On the ice and snow its...
thanks all, interesting discussion.
Also this has cured my FOMO about getting an AWD Maverick.. bought my 24 in 23, did not know there was an AWD on the schedule and got annoyed when I heard about it, would probably have delayed to get the AWD. But it's quite a lot more expensive and from this...
mine dropped from 43 to 35 with the cold weather, about 19% worse.
This surprised me, my old gas Ford would drop from 19-20 down to 16-17 in winter, so about 16% worse. I guess it's in the same ballpark, 16 or 19..
Do notice the engine runs a lot more in winter, it will start up immediately in...
that works..
Not on the Maverick but my old truck, rig a Slumberjack Roadhouse tarp off the back, then sleep in the bed. This works well.. on this trip we had 30mph winds, I was glad not to be in a tent..
is that a Kevlar Mad River Explorer ?
real pretty boat, very nice.
I have an old Royalex MRE in yellow, from 1976, still runs the rapids..
what trailer is that ? and how does it go with the Maverick ?
my wife is keen for more comforts also..
we went up the Dempster in a Ford Econoline with old tires, do not make our mistake..
the road is built over tundra by dumping large quantities of extremely sharp gravel chips.
We got up to the campground inside the Artic Circle, but we had 3 flat tires.. I had a foot pump and two of the flats...
thank you, good to have the nhtsa id.
My 2024 has not yet displayed this behaviour.. driving it only every 2nd or 3rd day, still have my Sport Trac so alternating between them.
yes - regular synthetic oil changes at 8k, so far have not heard the dreaded timing belt rattle..
Terrific engine in my experience, plenty of power, hauls me and canoes etc over the Continental Divide with no fuss or bother..
steering effort much the same I find, did not notice it.
The old truck rides mighty like a truck, part of its appeal - every drive a bit of an adventure, bumping along ;-)
Maverick is quiet and easy, my wife loves it but it may be too much luxury for me, ha.
Still have to do some dirt-roading...
it's a high bar to clear ;-)
I'm 6'2" and the driver seat in the Explorer is good, can even wear my cowboy hat inside..
but the rear seat in the Maverick is much more spacious. My occasional passengers will be happy..
2004 Ford Sport Trac Explorer, 2024 XL Maverick
The trucks are nearly identical in size - within an inch or two in length and width.
The Maverick is slightly lower and the hood line a couple of inches lower, which is welcome in this age of giant aggressive hoods.
The camper top is unexpectedly...
pretty much my position too.. got the Blue, really like the new green though. But not for $7k..
I need/would like to have AWD a couple times a year in the backcountry or snow, meantime my old RWD truck has managed perfectly well with chains in those situations. So I'd expect the FWD to do...
