I don't think you understand how evidence works. Evidence is used to prove a claim, not to prove doubt. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. In this case, you claim that owners should employ a procedure to prevent oil coking on turbochargers. You made the claim; you must provide...
Liquid cooling prevents the kind of heat that requires a cool down. Coked bearings was an issue before liquid cooled turbos, but not any more. When was the last time you heard about coked bearings on a stock turbo?
A pre-oil system uses a battery powered pump to get oil to internal parts BEFORE any engine parts move. All internal engine parts are moving if you use the starter to turn the engine, even if you don't actually start the engine. This is not pre-oiling. Using this procedure, all internal parts...
There's so much FUD in this thread. I'm amazed that anyone would purchase a vehicle from a manufacturer they believe WANTS their engines to fail at 100K miles.
Other than a couple of posts, what's largely missing here is data. Ford runs test engines for literally MILLIONS of hours to collect...
I don't believe I rebutted your answer. I shared my reasoning and expressed confusion regarding yours.
From what I know, a single LSPI event has the potential to destroy an engine. If Ford has linked intake valve fouling to LSPI then it would certainly seem that valve fouling has the...
This has been my point; if it doesn't cause problems why would Ford commit to a redesign to "fix" it?
I'm not sure why you would be concerned about this. The topic is a question about why Ford redesigned the intake system to include port injection. Isn't that what we've been discussing?
Thanks for the reply. I have been tracking this issue since we bought our first 2.0L EcoBoost-equipped Escape in 2014. Since then we've owned an EcoBoost Mustang, a second Escape, and a Bronco Sport, all equipped with EcoBoost engines. I've read on forums for over a decade about the dreaded...
They are random to me. I have no idea where they came from, who took them, what engine it was, whether the engine was modified or stock, etc., etc., etc. Like I said, a few random photos is not evidence of widespread issue with valve contamination.
I linked to an article with a quote from a...
Did you read either of the articles I linked to? FordTechMakaluco is quoted in one. He said, "Carbon deposits in Ford engines are not a widespread issue due to the advanced engine technology."
Neither. I'm looking for something besides opinion or anecdote. For example, a quote from a trusted...
Random photos with no provenance are not very good evidence. I've provided evidence from two sources as proof of my claims. Where is yours?
Yes, you keep saying this, but you have offered no proof.
Where did you get the 90% statistic? If valve contamination does not cause driveability problems...
ST owners are notorious for mods, especially software mods, and especially software mods that increase boost pressure. If you increase boost pressure you will increase piston blowby, and therefore crankcase pressure.
There's no evidence of widespread valve contamination being an issue with Ford's EcoBoost engines. This article includes a quote from popular YouTuber FordTechMakuloco who has a great deal of experience working with Ford engines.
Use good quality fuel, change your oil as recommended, and enjoy...
