Purchased for $600 plus shipping from a really good seller on eBay.
I get that fancy audio isn’t for everyone, but if it’s your thing, this is an absolutely screaming deal for a PC-configurable powered DSP. An AudioControl D.6-1200 is $1300 and a JL Audio VXi would be $1600 for similar...
I love building completely stealth systems that maximize audio quality but only use stock controls, locations, or completely unused space in the vehicle. Commensurate with the economy nature of the Maverick, this one will have components that are definitely a league above OEM, but not...
Added the front fender insulators from the Lariat and hybrid models. It’s kind of an odd cost-cutting measure for a mid-spec XLT but is what it is.
With slightly noisier A/T tires, I think this was a good investment as it does seem to cut out some road rumble.
Another vote for this little part - it definitely seems to quiet down some road noise, especially the A/T tires on my Tremor.
If you think about it, the trailing edge of the front tread is inches away from your ankle - and this insulator is placed right between them.
Was very quick and simple...
Well, I confirmed this today.
Powered up half my new audio system - head unit to a 9-channel DSP and Kicker subwoofer, and I can confirm that the active sound enhancement gets obnoxiously loud. Like, under the hood of a 70s Lamborghini loud. Window-rattling loud.
Right now, it's mainly due to...
This is good! Would recommend the small amped sub over bothering with the rear speakers. As I mentioned in my other post, those rear pillars won't ever contribute anything other than filling a bit of space for those in the back. You wouldn't even notice up front. Now, a Kicker Hideaway and your...
Heh, I tried to find a screenshot of the after RTA but it was on another laptop. It's a lot prettier - good extension with only a few dB down to about 38Hz, the practical limit of the HS8, then basically flat to 20K with a small dip around 4kHz to kill a weird resonance in the cabin that was...
Thanks! I would argue not just a better system, but one that is almost in a different league.
The stock B&O is nothing to write home about, with a pretty wimpy 6x9 for a sub, and mediocre drivers. The center channel is neither acoustically matched nor time corrected, so all it can really do is...
The good part is the Maverick is easy to work with - simple trim to pull for access to all the harnesses, lots of integration accessories, and space to install whatever.
If you're into decent sound, it's fairly easy to seriously improve the sound quality:
Add bass: Kicker Hideaway HS10 behind...
Seems to be a popular upgrade technique. :)
5/8" MDF with a layer of Kilmat 80 on the back and automotive carpet up front. Also went with the 24" width to take advantage of the available space and make room for my Audison DSP amp.
I wish I had read bwil415's post an hour earlier this morning...
That's a phenomenal looking build, well done!
I can't believe how compact the canister is on that cover - for some reason, I thought it was bigger and avoided it. If I had realized the XT was that small, I would seriously have considered it instead of the Bak Revolver X4s I ended up with.
Thank you! If you are at all comfortable dealing with tech, Forscan is no big deal if you stick to the steps and don't mess around in there. Everything I did has already been posted and verified many times here on MTC, and I have confirmed they work on the Tremor too:
Do this for the Drive...
All SDMs can be activated on the Tremor, and there is no difference in Forscan programming versus a regular Maverick. Just follow this YT tutorial and it will work fine.
Connect, go to module programming
ABS Module configuration (easy mode)
SDM - ABS flip from enabled to disabled
SDM - Eco flip...
The big $$$ mods. Shout out to Burnaby Hitch in Vancouver for doing a fast, professional job on these, watching out for things like protecting the factory threads for the bed rails I'm waiting for.
I decided on the Bak Revolver X4S for its theft deterrence when closed, but also how it is...
Little things. I haven't owned a vehicle without an engine cover since the late 1990s, so the engine bay felt naked without one. I don't even care that it has a Lincoln badge on it - although funny story, it was literally the first comment my neighbor made when poking around.
The tailgate...
I don't mind wired CarPlay if it is easy to mount and dismount my phone with one hand. I had an old Brodit iPhone holder that I was planning to use with a RAM mount up by the cubby, but decided that I didn't like the clutter of having it next to the center screen.
So I took it apart and mounted...
