Washed and waxed mine with Ceramic wax. I always wax the glass and headlights as well.
Then due to trans and battery issues it spent 2 days again at the dealership. Found out I may have a junk transmission that will need to be replaced.
The joys of Ford ownership! A huge regret.
The 2.5 does have that top end modification for the Atkinson cycle engine but otherwise, yeah. I'm happy with the port injection on the hybrid for its reliability but I am going to take a look at my fuel line before the rail on top of the engine per that post about its fail (that leak).
Of course your are going to see a lot of disgruntled owners here. People dont usually post if things are peachy with their trucks but they will almost always post their bad experiences.
Prove it. units sold vs issues had. I see disgruntled Hybrid owners "taking it back to the dealership and Im done with Ford" OFTEN.
All I see on here is Hybrid owners with deep sleep issues, need a new battery issues, saw a transmission not long ago, dash looks like a Christmas tree issues...
The hybrid is the one to get reliability wise. The issues the hybrid has are pretty minor like deep sleep or CV axles. Those are both issues that have been resolved or mitigated. Swapping to an AGM battery seems to fix the deep sleep issues for most people. The CV axles were redesigned and...
2022 Ecoboost 93,000
Biggest issues - having to do all the maintenance myself because the dealer wants $120 for an oil change and $1500 for rotors and pads :)
Driver seat headrest adjustment plastic piece broke 1st year
Paint got a bunch of chips in the 1st year - paint probably wasn't cured...
I'm not anticipating such issues. I bought my 2024 XLT Ecoboost as a retirement gift to myself. I'll have it 2 years in August. It just turned 6,000 miles. Coming up on it's second oil change...
A lot of things you'd expect to be addressed/replaced on any vehicle with almost 200k on it. My Sister in-law has a 2015 Honda Pilot (bought it new). She's a safe driver who's been diligent about maintenance. By the time it reached 200k, she'd replaced the transmission, catalytic converters, all...
I HAVE AN UPDATE.
Have them do the RDU Fluid, they found metal and pieces of the clutch pack. They are replacing the clutch pack but the not the entire RDU and I will update if that solves the issues.
I hope you or someone can tell me what I need to do before my 3 year warranty expires. I have a 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid with 6500 miles no major issues, 2 oil changes & 2 battery exchanges. Should I/can I, ask for entire truck examination before then?? I'm not mechanically capable Carple...
I used to be in the "never get an extended warranty" camp and have always done my own maintenance and repairs when possible. When we picked up our 25 Mav Lariat (from Granger) I also opted for the 10yr/100K/0 deduct + lighting rider. The truck compliments our EV so it sits in the garage most...
Now, now. Let's be fare.
It wasn't a GM design,. but a joint Ford & GM design.
This lets ford off the hook because, uhm . . . never mind . . .
😜
[Although ford also jointly developed an engine with Mazda back when it owned a lot of it. The Mazda 2.0 and Ford 2.5 are the same engine--but Ford...
Used and refurbished units are on the market.
The Ford 8F35 is an 8-speed automatic transmission plagued by harsh shifting, torque converter shudder, and delayed reverse engagement. These issues stem from software glitches, debris-clogged solenoids, and premature mechanical wear of internal...
Your buddy could simply have called FORD corporate. We've had customers call Ford on us when they (rightly or wrongly) felt we were taking too long. Ford called to find out the issue. And they wouldn't allow our managers to simply blow smoke. They'd get the manager to give them a proposed...
If 20k miles is "way better" then any of these third party manufacturers can manage, then none of them would be in business. That assumes, of course, that none of these companies are the ones that supply the big OEMs. Ford's early CV axles had Hyundai stamping on them, and who knows who was...
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the GM-designed, Ford-built trash that is the 8F35 transmission.
If I were you, here's what I'd do:
1. Find a local mechanic that can toss in a unit from eBay. They're going for $2000 with low mileage shipped to their garage.
2. Sell it right...
...was REALLY down on Fords. Very bad experience with an Escape owned by an ex that apparently spent many months in the shop due to transmissionissues.
After 13 months and 6600 miles, I'm comfortable with my reliability so far. Though, at this stage, if there HAD been any problems I would...
Once a vehicle syncs with the cloud, whatever changes you made with FORScan become you new ab data. FDRS cannot be used to compare before and after config. You can only see the config in PTS/OASIS and even then, you'll only see the data from the last time the vehicle synced.
Calibration files...
Yes but regardless of the brand, transmission failures do happen at lower mileages occasionally, overall transmission failures don't seem common with this Ford transmission and that's what counts. Also, as others have mentioned here, the owner did not keep up with the required service while...
It was a solenoid I think.
Back in the day a buddy had a 1980 F-150 work truck with a six cylinder in it.
Automatic base XL model.
A vacuum shift solenoid went out, it was on the outside of the transmission. It cost something like $14.
We put it on in like four minutes, ourselves,
In The...
