Yes, the catalytic converter is downstream of the turbo. GPF, if equipped, is downstream of the cat. Since a turbo extracts heat from the exhaust, the EB 2.0L will typically run cooler at the tailpipe than the naturally aspirated engine like the 2.5L Atkinson.
Either way - after an extended...
I wouldn't worry about driving at 70mph during "break in" at that speed you should be just under 2K rpms. You might try cycling through the different drive modes at 70 to see how the sound changes, if it doesn't then it's not an exhaust system issue.
...instead that I had to add a resonator to make it drivable.
You might already know that Magnaflow is known for its low key rumble. I’m going to consider replacing my still too loud & drony aftermarket setup with the new Magnaflow for the refreshed EB. They offer a system for with or without GPF:
No GPF.
I knew they were coming and checked underneath before purchase. Although I think they are a good idea for improving air quality for breathing humans - so I acted a bit self serving in my choice. Did not want the so called extra complexity & maintenance.
Maverick77, the OP, does not have a GPF. Like me he checked before purchase.
When I cut my exhaust (right about where the mystery hanger is) to install a catback - I was surprised that the long piece of pipe leading to the catalytic converter was unsupported.
Luckily it had a flexible mesh...
Maybe Mavericks with the heavy GPF will need additional support? Still need to add a new hanger connection to the unibody?
Those without the GPF but have the “phantom” hanger on the pipe only will be “collectible”:)
Sorry - didn’t realize I was preaching to the choir:)
My EB’s first 80 miles were driven by a “fetcher” too. Probably in Lobo Mode trying to drift it! Oh well, what can you do.
Hopefully your drone is something simple like tires that will quiet down after a bit of wear.
...my old 2.7, but nothing unusual about that. I have a 1.5T in an Equinox with 70 less HP.
I confirmed when I purchased this vehicle that it did not have the GPF as that would have been a no go. It was ordered and shipped to a Wisconsin dealer. I noticed the other day the so-called...
...exhausts. First hand experience:)
Does your truck have the new Gas Particulate Filter? My 2025 does not. Although I can’t imagine the GPF causing a high speed drone…
If you are going to drive 70mph plus during break in - try to keep the rpm’s down:) Don’t go above 3500-4000 rpm until your...
Any lobo produced after 6/26 can have the gpf, the window sticker or emissions sticker under the hood will indicate "50 state emissions" and will mention gpf.
It would not shock me one bit if every maverick has it from here on out.
I've heard that trucks equipped with one will indicate it on the window sticker. Otherwise, you can look for it underneath the truck. There are photos of what they look like online.
To be clear, the 300T will be an aftermarket parts kit offered by Ford (through their "Custom Garage" program). It's not necessarily a new trim level for the Maverick.
I believe the GPF is only installed on trucks sold in the 5 or 6 states that require it.
You can spot a 26 Lobo by the Blue Oval on grille vs the 25’s Black Oval.
Peak under truck to see a GPF on a 26 Lobo - maybe on a Job 3 25 model also.
Peak under again to see a spare tire on the 25 Lobo - but not on the 26 Lobo.
There are probably some software changes that will monitor the...
