It’s 05:33 EST. I applied the MAVBOV code to no avail.

This was posted here before noon Tuesday so I took “the next 48 hours” literally.

I had this BOV on the back burner for a few more weeks and I was going to pull the trigger with the code….

That being said, to answer your question more directly, speaking for myself, it’s an enthusiast thing. Asking a “car guy” or “gearhead”, and speaking as someone who identifies as a gear head, because I like it. I’m from the Motor City. It’s in the air and water here. I’ve been involved in the industry the majority of my life. Car/truck noises = fun.

Honestly it’s also a sound of power. The sound created by this valve is the release of excess pressure in the intake system. So much so if there wasn’t a release the pressure may destroy the engine.

The BOV in question is an upgrade from the stock unit, regardless of whether it vents to the atmosphere or not. That is the sound you are referring to, when the excess pressure is released directly to the atmosphere. What you are asking is parallel to asking why have a louder exhaust system. The answer is the same:because. Individual choice.
Furthermore, the sound of excess intake pressure being vented direct to atmosphere lets you know the BOV is functioning like it should without having a boost gage installed

I can’t play that game until mine arrives and is installed! I’m enjoying my other goodies until then! Received and installed MASSIVE front strut tower bar Monday. Received Air Design front lip, cab, and tailgate spoiler and may install those today, about to finish install of Weathtech vent visors non matte finish. Stainless Works 3” downpipe set to be shipped next week. Just have to contact ISC and find out WHEN my coilovers will arrive!

Thats one thing I am enjoying about this community so far: we can discuss our opinions without becoming upset or being immature.

I could see that. Traditionally, turbo pish and whoosh sounds have been associated more closely with Asian cars. Some of the gearheads older than me can chime in about those Grand National cars (I forget if it was the Grand National or Buick that was Turbo) but I don’t think they had a BOV with a large presence concerning pressure release sounds.
I would say modern tuned turbo cars/trucks globally have the fun factor of BOV sounds inherent in performance systems. Steeda offers an adapter for the stock unit that vents to atmosphere but it’s not so much less to be worth my time or dime. For my $$$$ I’ll wait and save and buy the actual upgraded unit from Turbosmart.
The promo code worked and now I’ll be patiently waiting for the next piece of the puzzle to arrive.
