About 3 times now (to my knowledge) I've had the opportunity to be driving with the sun roof tilted open and heard what can only be described as a "sucking", "gurgling" nose coming from the drivers side ( front) of the sunroof. Is this the drain? It occurs at very moderate (and up) speeds but stops when the vehicle is completely at rest. I've tried to think if this is related to rain but, as far as i can remember, in each case it hadn't rained in the immediate preceeding time frame. Is this anything to worry about? What is it? It goes away after a full stop/ rest from driving at speed (until the next time). Looking forward to hearing from anyone (particularly a service tech that might know how the sunroof drain is plumbed - assuming there is one? )

I believe this is wind "buffeting" where the air coming in thru the sunroof has no where to go inside the vehicle. Try cracking your back windows (or rear window if you have one) a bit and I'll bet the noise stops.

Will try that... mind you I'm positive the front windows were open (but maybe not).... will try again... it's funny it doesn't always happen... THANKS very much for your thoughts. Will report

Is there standing water in the frame of the sunroof? Should be able to see with it open.

I didn't check but will next time it rains or car wash... Does anybody know how they unclog the drain pipes? Do they have to take it all apart (if kinked) ? Also, where do they terminate (ie drain out to the ground? ) Maybe i could do some experimenting with a hose?

Do you have a compressor? Might be able to blow the hose out.

Or open the sunroof and pour a cup of water in the drain tube and watch if it drains on the ground.

FWIW, had a sound like that on our Volvo XC40 when the sunroof was closed and it was wet outside. They fixed it with some kind of TSB. I think it was something to do with the drain tube.

How many are there? Two in each front corner? Or 4? Or just 2 in the rear? Seems like every manufacturer did something different... anybody know?

I use to do PDR and every headliner I pulled with sunroofs had 4 drain tube's. One at each corner. Not sure about the Maverick.

Edit: Just looked at the parts diagram and it shows a drain tube at each corner.

At 4 corners? Very interesting... i know the front pillar is called the A pillar, so I'd surmise the front two would each go down their respective A pillars. What about the back ones (if there are 4)... down the central pillar or further back... ? Not sure if coincidental but my seatbelt felt a bit 'damp' this morning (I attributed it to cool fall evenings). Can you link me to the parts diagram(s)?
