I had an A.R.E MX (mid-rise) and sold it to a fellow MTC member. I had it bolted to my Maverick, but I also had the clamps from the original installation. It was easy for me to remove the bolts, unplug the lights, and for two people to take it off.

I now have an A.R.E. V (cab-high) shell and have it bolted to my Maverick. I want them bolted to give me a sense of security when mounting stuff on the Yakima racks.

By the way, the cost of the MX was $3940 which includes $400 for OTR. The V was $3200 and was painted to match.

This is what I’m looking for. Looks great on your Mav.

Hi! You mentioned Yakima racks. Did you add some to the top of the cap or the top of the cab? I'm moving from an Avalanche with lots of racks and want to set my new Mav up with a cap like yours and racks on both for canoes, cargo baskets, etc. Thanks!

I have racks for the cab rooftop and the top of the shell. Although the pictures show the racks on the A.R.E. MX-series below, they are now ready to be placed on the A.R.E. V-series.

Thanks! I can see how the V series would work better for long objects like my canoes so that all the bars are at the same level. I think it looks much better too, but I should check one out in person since I'm 6'5". I know I'll have to duck, but I just don't want to lose an eye on the hatch. I just requested a quote on one. I have some existing Yakima racks from my wife's Fusion, so all I'll need for the cab racks is new clips to fit the Mav. I'm assuming I can get more towers and bars to add racks to the ARE down the road.

On the MX, I would just strap the canoe directly to the MX using the roof rails with track mount tie downs and NRS straps (put a mat down to protect the MX). Roof rack and cross bars only on the cab.

That makes perfect sense, thank you. I know the MX is going to be more useful, but I think I'm leaning towards the V because I like the lines better. I know, I know, it's a truck and function is key but I used to run a raised cover on my Silverado and I didn't like the look. Now I just need to figure out the difference in rear window heights when opened to see if I'm going to lose an eye.

Thank you
