Issues:
  • random "yellow wrench" and "service soon" on dash, comes and goes on its own.
  • Ford Pass app "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power"
  • once while driving at low speeds around 20 mph, vehicle lost power with a shake ( i didn't notice if the engine was running or not, it felt like it was in electric mode earlier).
Recently purchased back in March 26, about 3 1/2 weeks ago. Service lights started occurring on second day, salesman assured me it went through an inspection before me taking ownership. Techs also did not top off fluids, coolant was at minimum, and oil level was also low / slight burnt smell. Took it back to dealer and tech said the powertrain issues were due to the vehicle sitting in the back lot. Note: salesman told me it was recently traded in a day ago, and just arrived. Tech said he reset the codes and said it just I needed to drive it.

Took it to another dealer this week, and tech showed me a calendar on his computer screen showing alarm codes for the last 3 months on this vehicle. He noticed the "Gear Shift Lock Solenoid / Actuator" was in almost all these messages and checked it. He discovered the shifter was not putting the system into sleep mode when put into parked. It was still drawing power and causing these low voltage issues. New part was ordered, and it will be installed next Monday. Tech also recommends I get a battery tender if I'm going to let the vehicle sit for more than 5 days, due to the nature of hybrids.
