Hello, just wondering if anyone here has traded their crosstrek for a maverick and what your experience has been like. I recently got back into riding dirtbikes and originally intended on hauling it around in a trailer behind my crosstrek, but the little NA 2.0 and CVT really struggle. I dont want to fry the transmission just to get myself to the track every weekend. So I am here considering a mav.

What attracts me about the Mav is the compact nature, fuel efficiency and having the bed to haul around my bike. Something that does scare me a little is that my family has had poor experiences with ford 10+ years ago so I am a little timid to move away from Japanese brands. What I like about the crosstrek is how roomy it is, especially how the back seat has enough room for my dogs. It rides super smooth, its quiet, the AWD is amazing in the snow and off road. I hate the extreme lack of power the thing has and not being able to throw a bike in the back.

So, anyone here switched for similar reasons? What was your experience like?

I previously had an Impreza, which is very similar to the Crosstrek. Sold it and ordered & purchased a '23 XL Hybrid Maverick. I've had the Mav. since October and have had no trouble with it other than a couple rattles. My Impreza had more rattles than the Maverick, so there's that.

Currently, there is a software update for the Maverick's turn signals (burned out bulb warning) and I plan to have that done soon, plus have one rattle addressed. Other than that, the truck hasn't been in the shop except for oil change.

The mileage is incredible. I've had no tank of gas get below 40mpg. Worst trip mileage has been 31 (hwy) and best trip mileage has been 71 (city).

A tailgate pad should make it easy to haul a bike. I've hauled several things in the bed, including a sofa. No bike yet, though.

I've owned cars from Germany, Korea, Japan and the US. None of them have been perfect. The last truck I owned was an F-150. It wasn't my favorite vehicle, but it was damn reliable; and other than fuel expense, it cost me very little money to own. Reliability and the fact it was paid for were the reasons I ended up keeping it for 22 years.

I've had 7 Fords. For me, they have not been any more or less reliable than other brands I've owned.

I think Ford's biggest issue is the way some of their dealers treat their customers. But not all of them. A little research before purchase goes a long way to weed out bad dealers.
