I can’t think of another vehicle, truck or otherwise, that offers this much value for 33 grand. The fact that you can buy a good-looking, nicely-equipped, and capable compact pickup truck for that kind of money in 2023 when everything’s been inflated through the roof is pretty spectacular.

... it’s for anyone who wants a capable truck and isn’t afraid of buying the smallest one there is.

Couldn't agree more. I just got finished reading this and it was well-spoken. The quote from above perfectly sums up the value proposition that the regular Maverick and Tremor Maverick have to offer! Makes me proud to have my own Maverick!

I saw a Tremor for the first time in our showroom last week and I have to say, I do like it. It was a fully-loaded Avalanche Grey Lariat. A bit pricey though which totally contradicts this article. The MSRP was a steep $40,000 and on their site, there's a $7K markup that brings the total price to $47,000! Nearly $50K for a compact! No spank you!

Only because it's a Maverick retail order and it's a loaded Tremor that makes it all so expensive. I bet if it was a base XL, the MSRP would be $24,000 but with a $5K markup, that would bring it to $29,000. Not great but still cheap for a brand new pickup.

The only thing I didn't like about the Tremor is the mostly black interior. It's too dark and will be a pain to keep clean. That's why I enjoy my Lariat with the brown seats/trim. It makes it more unique and is much easier to keep clean. Plus it gives it its character. Black is just too commonplace, however, the orange Tremor embroidery was a nice touch.

Looks like $31,600 USD is the cheapest you can get one for, which is XLT plus Tremor option only. That's a good price really, it's an XL plus a rear cubby, extra tie downs, rear arm rest, power tailgate lock, & I think the better dash screen.

It's the top of the line of the top of the line, right? Vehicles aren't cheap but I sure am.

Mav is a winner winner chicken dinner. Love it and so happy to have one.

Thanks for posting the review.

An XLT Tremor is a completely different beast from the XL - in terms of sheer value you basically get the cosmetic XLT upgrades you listed for free. I paid extra to own:

  • the proven DANA liquid-cooled PTU/RDU with clutch-locking 4WD and rear differential
  • a 1" factory lift with properly upgraded half shafts
  • factory tuned progressive springs and decent monotube shocks with bump stops
  • trail control and off-road programming
  • a nice set of alloy wheels with 29" Falken Wildpeaks all around
  • 30 degrees of approach with tow hooks and a skid plate
  • 3.81 final drive with a beefier transmission cooler
  • a free hitch receiver with 4-pin
  • most of the black appearance package, including the signature LED taillights
  • a decent set of rubber floor mats
  • power glass in the mirrors
Looking at the price of aftermarket upgrades, if any of these things are meaningful to a buyer (not for everyone, but they are to me), the $9000 extra over a barebones basic XL is an incredible deal especially in these times.

I looked everywhere for a new vehicle that offered this level of capability and refinement for the price and it doesn't exist. You could easily spend $9000 trying to upgrade something else to this level, and it probably wouldn't be as nice to drive to work or the hardware store. $31,600 is a great price for what you get.

The markups are screwing me big time. Especially on Ford vehicles.
