Trying to verify that the +12V feed to the 7 pin trailer plug is just a standard 12V circuit, not something integrated with battery charging circuitry or other "features". The fuse for it appears to be underhood #48 "Trailer tow lighting module battery charge" if I'm reading it correctly. I want to power some LED lighting from it when the plug is inserted. Thanks!

Considering it's fused at 30amp, it's a trailer battery charging circuit. Like the Owners Manual indicates. Why not use the in-bed pigtails?

That's what the circuit is always called. I wanted to be sure that Ford didn't do something strange with the electronics on these new trucks. It was a plain 20A circuit on my older Ram. My goal is to have something that can be disconnected completely via the trailer plug. If I could find a wiring diagram I could check, but I haven't found one yet.

If you use the trailer plug you lose blind spot and cross-traffic alerts, if so equipped.

Doh!
😱

I don't have those, but I also won't be connecting to any of the lighting circuits to trigger the "trailer detected" issue - at least my quick test didn't trigger it.

I think current draw = trailer connected.

But I've never tried "only" the "charge" pin (without the tail lamps).

You may be lucky.
