Instead of two somewhat loose spaces in the truck bed to hold a vertical 54 1/4 inch divider board, I was wondering if the truck bed had been built with two FITS slots instead that could accommodate various FITS items such as a retractible web strap. This would be preferable to cutting and using a board to keep items in place.

I would like to have seen FITS slots in the bed. At least as an option. But I would not want them to replace the board slots. Really the fits design isn't strong enough(at least in plastic form) for and real load carrying capacity. However a slot on the tailgate or on the plastic bedsides would have been nice for hanging groceries or tethering light items. I'm also annoyed that the Ford bed cargo management rails only came with 2 total cleats and that they don't have a fits setup for that available.

It's a pretty spendy setup for one cleat per side. You can add hooks for bags using the rail.

I have read that some people are cutting those foam pool floats and attaching them to whatever is in the slots. No rattle no wear.
