New to me Discovery today

I hit a few of my jobsites today and some I have to jump out unlock gate and drive through then stop again going through. Well I like the fact that I can just stop open door and hop out. Automatically goes into park. That is super handy as sometimes I have to jump in and out multiple times really quick. Now no reason to worry about putting in park(flat ground). Just open door and bail. Hop back in and roulette spin to right and go. Pretty cool. That's all in case someone else didn't know.

Do you at least come to a full stop and allow the vehicle to go into park with your foot still on the brake? I don't see how the motion with your right hand is so time consuming. But hey, it's your transmission and possible insurance claim if it doesn't work out, not mine!

Well yes I stop completely at the gates lol. I'm not crashing through them. I just open door roll to stop and step out. It's not a time thing it's just a cool feature.

It is a cool feature, I just wouldn't purposely put it to the test over and over. It's basically only there as a fail safe. Don't skip a step in your hurry lol.

TBF, I tested it too. But only in the safety of my driveway. I think most people would advise you to just take the extra step (normal step?) and make sure each time. It's super quick and easy with the dial.

Yea some of those give me a pucker factor just reading them. Not something I'd be willing to test or rely on regularly. It's funny seeing all the rear end posts on here and then people going "on their cell phone not paying attention" but then you remember groups of people saying "it's designed to do that so I use it that way" in regard to those safety features...

One thing I don't have yet but will not use....lane assist. That scares me thinking about not being in control. This auto park is way safer You can literally just stop and open your door and watch it go into park.

Is there any model limitation for this feature? Other than the gear selector dial that is. I didn't know about this feature and probably won't use it, but good to know. Thx...

I knew a guy that was killed in his driveway when he stepped out of his chevy dually, didn't get it in park, rolled back, knocked him down and the truck ran over him.
This feature will prob save some lives, but I sure as shit wouldn't rely on it purposely

One thing I don't have yet but will not use....lane assist. That scares me thinking about not being in control. This auto park is way safer You can literally just stop and open your door and watch it go into park.

Yes I love that on my Maverick I also love I do not have to take off the E Brake just put it in drive and go it comes off automatically but I do not like the little jerk it does . Wish I would of had both of these on my interceptor . Sometime you forget to do some things when you get in a really big hurry and a half of a second to a second means so very much sometimes.
