Surprised the key blade out of the FOB wont unlock the doors manually- What does the key blade actually do ?

Need to have my Rig shuttled and was trying not to have to hand over the entire FOB/ETC- Lariat with Push to Start.

The removable blade from the Intelligent Access fob on Lariat should indeed manually unlock the driver door and the tailgate. That's what it's there for. It doesn't start the vehicle. There's a backup location where you set down the fob in case its battery dies, to be able to start the vehicle.

Is it not turning, sticking, not going in all the way?

Goes in all the way- Turns but no unlock.

Hmm... A trip to the dealer might be in your future unless someone here has some advice for you to try.

Another question- If I lock the Keyfob in the car- Would someone just putting their hand on the handle be able to unlock it without an issue since it has intelligent access ?

you literally can't lock your fob in your car due to the proximity sensor in the fob

You can easily lock the vehicle with either key left inside (flip key for XLT, fob for Lariat) using the included SecuriCode keypad. Just hold the last two buttons - 7/8 and 9/10 - until you hear it lock.

You do need the IA fob in your hand to use the button on the door handle to lock the vehicle.

Generally, the fob has to be outside of the vehicle to lock/unlock using the intelligent access door handle, though it's possible someone with a radio repeater device could boost the signal and unlock from the outside.

So on the 2nd try - I was able to use the key blade to unlock the truck - Then I tested the door it seemed to be unlocked- Used the key on the door- lock and unlock- then opened the door and the friggin alarm starts blaring and would not shut off- Luckily I had my phone so I played around with the lock/start features- Yikes - The 2 button Securicode lock did work but not sure what credentials this blade was given..

Isn’t it amazing how something as simple as locking and unlocking a truck door with a key has been made so complicated 🤨
Yes its wild-

You can lock the vehicle and leave the fob in the vehicle if that’s what you wanted to do. Example: Going for a run and not wanting the fob. You lock with key pad, and unlock via keypad.

Sounds like the plan but a bit concerned since we have intelligent access- Will try it tonight.
