Pro Tip for anyone driving longer than an hour or so: 3M/Scotch Blue Painter's Tape is your best friend and cheap insurance. I tape the entire front bumper cover, mirror caps, and 1/3 of the way up the hood of the Focus to protect the paint on my 7-hour drive. If it's painted, tape it.
Feel free to reach out with any questions and I'll try to help.

I see that we now have six registered. When the seventh person registers, those are the ones that will receive the Ford manual covers. Kim, you are the editor and you started all this, if you would be so kind as to inform those participants of this I would be greatly appreciative. Again thanks.
Will do. And if some one doesn’t want one, you will have no problem finding someone else who does.

This is an experienced and serious car show guy, folks! Follow him if you want to be a “contender.”

Thanks for sharing your experience, Mike. And for that photo — now everyone knows why hotel rooms book early.

Thanks for the kind words, Kim.
Yeah, I've been to a few shows since '09; this is my office at work.

Friday usually has a decent turnout, and probably the best day to hit the manufacturer's midway and swap meet.
Saturday is always the big day with full classes and the event in full swing. It's a double-edged sword-Saturday will have the most cars to look at, but you're trying to hang by your vehicle to answer questions during voting, plus getting your own voting done.
Sunday is usually pretty sparce, as the vendors are all breaking down their displays, and many of the participants are heading home. I recommend staying for the Awards Parade, whether you win something or not.
As mentioned earlier, if you get the chance, the Downtown Parade is pretty cool.
I haven't done the parade in several years, since Focus Rising has their awards picnic on Saturday night.

Yep, that’s been my experience also at the Carlisle Import & Performance show, although they gave up on Sunday a couple years back, and it’s now just a two-day event.

(Unstable weather has been a deterrent for vintage import cars at the May show. Many are ragtops that aren’t necessarily weather tight, and a lot of owners don’t drive them in the rain.)

It seems like the past few years I've hit rain driving in on Thursday, Friday is beautiful, Saturday is sunny and really hot, then Sunday is overcast with rain threatening.

I'm really hoping that @CARBON_MAV will be there; it looks like he is fairly local to Carlisle. That Maverick is fricking awesome and exactly what I would like to do if I end up getting one in a couple of years.

Start a conversation with @CARBON_MAV , and send him an invite. He’s in Maryland, so a trip to Carlisle is definitely doable. Straight shot up I-83.

Good question! I hadn’t gotten that far in my own planning, but haven’t signed up for it yet. (another $25, and parade registration is limited to the first 400 vehicles.)

It would be nice for our group to represent in the parade though…. Maybe we can get some interest going amongst those who are preregistered.

So …
MAVERICKS ON PARADE IN CARLISLE, anyone?

Here’s the info — and hey, you get a Tshirt!

Ford Parade and Street Party Comes to Downtown Carlisle
A Limited Field of 400 Hit the Streets on Saturday Night
The Downtown Carlisle Association presents the annual and always popular Ford Parade and Downtown Street Party on Saturday, June 3rd at 7pm.

Automotive enthusiasts, specifically those interested in the FOMOCO brands, will line the streets of downtown Carlisle to see a wide array of cars showcased during the Carlisle Ford Nationals. The parade field is limited to only 400 Ford, Lincoln and/or Mercury vehicles.

The parade will once again be led by a select group of Ford officials showing off some of their hot new products! In addition to the parade, spectators will enjoy specialty vehicles, a wide variety of food and fanfare.

Please note, you must be registered for the Carlisle Ford Nationals to be eligible for the parade. Don't miss out on this great Saturday night attraction. All vehicles must be staged by 6:30 p.m. for departure.

The cost to be in the parade is $25.
• Fee includes t-shirt, goody bag & special parade dash plaque (while supplies last)

Please note: all vehicles must be staged prior to 6:30 p.m. for departure.

Just found out about this and registered. Have a Rapid Red First Edition hybrid. Sounds like fun weekend. See everyone there.
Woo hoo! Thanks, Mike! We are inching toward our goal of 25 Mavs preregistered under Maverick Truck Club by April 18, to qualify for the free club tent.

We have 12 “definitely”s, either already registered or gonnas … and other 7 “hope so’s,” so that’s 19 if the “hope so’s” come through.

***** I am working on getting support from the companies who are sponsors of the MTC site, and have had encouraging response so far.

Details to come, but I can promise you this: If you are among the first 25 to preregister for Carlise Ford as part of the Mavsrick Truck Club, you WILL be getting a FREE “swag bag” of stuff from our sponsors,.

And other stuff — items of significant value — is beng contributed for a prize drawing on Saturday afternoon.

Stay tuned — And really, you do NOT want to miss this event!

SPONSOR SUPPORT FOR MAVERICKS at CARLISLE:

On a whim, I decided to contact all the companies listed as sponsors on the MTC forum, seeing if they would be interested in supporting our gathering at the Carlisle Ford Nationals in some way.

The response has been encouraging.

Both Muslogy Auto and Mabett — who sell nice accessory items — will be sending some really nice products for either gift bags (for first 25 registrants!) or a prize drawing.

I am talking more than $750 worth of products here — so far — to be given away at our gathering..

I’ve also heard from:

All thanked me for asking them to be involved , and are getting back to me with what they will be able to provide in the way of sponsorship and support for our gathering.

So. There’s that.
