Oem ford soft cover roll up won't latch unless tailgate is down

I have the thick weather strip on the bed near the cab, no water coming in there

Yeah the back of the cab is fine for me

Yeah I used it just like in the directions. Even extra around where the bulkhead meets the rockerpannel.

The whole back is dry. Guess the problem is the water has no where to go

I havent done the tailgate seal yet, didn’t understand the instructions, but have an idea what to do and am waiting on warmer day. I was getting a good bit of water in the bed up near the cab when we had hard rains and truck parked. Used plumbers putty yesterday (pic) and This morning was none.

I'm going to call truxedo tomorrow. Plummets putty is a great idea

Quick question. Are the side rails completely flush with the roclerpannel? The side rails weather strip doesn't hang over into the bed?

My side rails hang in about 1/4”

Hey guys first time long time.

Just installed the soft cover from Ford and it won't latch unless tailgate is open. The cover is as far forward as possible.

Any ideas?

anti-theft design, you wouldn't want someone to open it without taking extra time, locks keep honest people honest and thieves hopefully look for easier targets
