Wired Android Auto using Bluetooth for Music?

So thought about switching to AA instead of carplay (I have a dedicated phone for it) And noticed it stays connected to bluetooth, which I read is normal for AA and its supposed to just be used for calls..

But In the App PowerAmp if I look at audio output it shows:
Bluetooth: 16Bit CODEC SBC 16 bit 44.1KHz.



If I go into my phone bluetooth device settings and Disable Media Audio it then shows,
AAudio 16 bit 48KHz

So either power amp is lying or not showing correctly, or For some reason in Sync 3 in the Maverick is using Bluetooth audio for Android auto...

Any input on this?

It's probably connecting to AA and Bluetooth. I'd just delete the phone from the truck Bluetooth pairings and stick with AA, which will indeed handle your calls.

Doesn't work. The phone in question was never even paired to the truck with bluetooth in the first place. Deleting it and reconnecting it, it auto pairs with the truck again.

Seems like your phone is auto accepting pair requests, which if so is not normal nor safe.

S25 Ultra, Moto Edge 2022, Pixel 9 Pro XL all do the same thing on stock settings.. Its not auto accepting pair requests, Wired Android Auto is whats doing it.

Its the same with Wireless Android auto, it connects via bluetooth at first and then will connect to its WiFi automatically.

For wired AA, it uses both bluetooth and the wired USB connection.

Not really insecure pairing, since the phone has to be physically connected with a cable to auto-pair the bluetooth. Unless you're worried about someone breaking into your truck and connecting their phone to it. And even that would require having the fob/key.
