I didn’t notice any difference in my mpg after I took the other side one off or increase in noiseAre they actually a form of sound deadening or there for aero to help MPG?

You should take a look under your fx4. It has the same felt pads as in the OP’s pics.Should have bought a fx4 . metal skid plates .

There most definitely is a mpg benefit. You may not have the sensitivity to see it, but Ford does. Ford will load one up on a rolling road dyno to simulate the EPA cycle, collect the data and be like, “ok, felt panels improved efficiency by 0.35%, which will save us $180 per vehicle in CAFE penalties, while the felt underbody panels cost $50 to make, so we are definitely putting felt underbody panels on every Maverick.”I didn’t notice any difference in my mpg after I took the other side one off or increase in noise
