Yes, you can go into ForScan and change the set DRL(Day time Running Lights). So instead of headlight, it is running my turn signals as the DRL, hence only amber and not the white headlight.

I got the Lariat Tremor with the LED DRL headlight unit, is it possible?

I am honestly not sure; You could mess around with the settings but I bet someone already asked this question somewhere in this forum lol. You could also check the Master Spread Sheet and see if someone has talked about it.

Hey everyone,

Just got back from a quick camping trip with a friend and figured I’d share a few thoughts.

It ended up being a fun little Maverick duo – my white truck and my buddy’s gray one. We loaded up some basic gear, picked a spot, and spent a couple days relaxing away from everything.

No crazy plans or complicated setup, just two trucks and a simple weekend outdoors. The Mavericks handled the drive out perfectly and made the whole trip easy and stress-free.

It’s trips like this that really show how practical these trucks are. Comfortable on the road, easy to pack, and more than enough for a good camping getaway.

Definitely won’t be the last time we do something like this.

If anyone has questions about either builds or items on the truck I would be more than happy to share. But is anyone else getting their Mavericks out for trips lately?

Looks great! Haven't installed my rack yet nor purchased a RTT. Noticed your (older?) photos show what appears to be a side-open ABS hard shell RTT, while showing an aluminum rear open wedge type? Are you finding the aluminum rear open wedge type to be much better?

Yeah, good eye — my older setup was the Penthouse Roof Top Tent – Hard Top RTT from Antidote Outdoors, and my current one is the XD Lhotse 2-Person Clamshell Aluminum Hard Shell RTT from Overland Vehicle Systems.

Honestly, the aluminum rear-opening wedge/clamshell style has been way better for me.

The Penthouse had a few ongoing issues — it leaked, the zippers were annoying, and the interior height wasn’t great, so I was always kind of hunched over inside. Long-term, it just wasn’t very comfortable.

With the OVS tent, I can actually sit upright, stretch my legs out, and it doesn’t pool water overnight because of the slanted design. It’s been way more comfortable and practical for real trips.

If I could do it over again, I probably would’ve skipped the first tent and just invested in the OVS from the start. I was able to fix up the old one and sell it without losing money, but in hindsight, putting a little more upfront into the better tent would’ve been worth it.

If you’re on the fence, I’d definitely recommend the aluminum wedge/clamshell style. It’s been a big upgrade for me.

Thanks for the reply. Oh, now I see your old one was the type that lift straight up - like the Roofnest Sparrow and others. I've been debating whether to go for the wedge type like yours versus the type that swings open to the side with two support poles. The consenus does seem to be as you prefer. I also like your the wedge type like yours that lifts up in the front. Probably the only thing I prefer about the side-open type is the smaller foot print when closed that would allow it to sit lower over the bed (even below the roof line) as well a few less lbs. I'm watching facebook marketplace since there's usually quite a few "never used" or "used like new" that pop-up. BTW, did you have to do anything regarding the antenna, or did your fit right over it?

Yeah, exactly — my old one was the straight pop-up style, similar to the Roofnest-type tents.

You’re right though, the side-open ones definitely have that advantage of a smaller footprint and sitting a bit lower over the bed. If someone is really focused on keeping things low-profile, I can see why they’d lean that way.

For me though, the wedge/clamshell style has been 100% worth it. My current tent from Overland Vehicle Systems fits right over the antenna without any issues. I’m running the stubby antenna now, but even with the stock one, it would’ve cleared fine because of how my rack is set up.
Definitely keep watching Facebook Marketplace — that’s honestly the move. I picked mine up for about $1k when it normally goes for close to $3k. The family I bought it from had just gotten another “kid” (their dog ) and needed a bigger tent, so it was barely used.

Personally, I’d only buy a pop-up clamshell/wedge style at this point. I’m not a fan of the fold-out tents with the support poles. Growing up, my dad had one and it was always a pain — hard to fold, annoying to fit under the cover, and if it rained overnight, packing up in the morning was miserable. Everything would be wet, and we’d have to dry it out first or it would trap moisture and start smelling.

Setup was also more annoying since the truck and ground had to be pretty level. With the wedge, it’s just open, climb in, done.
So yeah — if you can snag a clean clamshell/wedge on Marketplace, that’s the route I’d recommend all day. It’s way more convenient long-term.
