Truck in shop for faulty module?

So my truck keep throwing codes , check engine light , and whole host of other codes.
Took to,shop today, was told need to replace module. I’m not a car person, is that a chip?
plus I’m on the west coast and the part I need is on the east coast…
Good news at least I can drive it till past arrives
