is there actually an AWD electric architecture in production that uses 1 central electric motor? As far as I know they tend to use 1 smaller motor on each wheel they want to power and scale up from there. There used to be proposed systems where the electric motor would be part of the transmission (I think Ford and Chevy were partnering on R&D for that), but don't know if it ever got production ready?

Ford has inked a deal to use a number of configurations of Volkswagens MEB platform for their electric vehicles.......it's only a matter of time for all E to be an option.

I think the biggest thing I'm thankful for is they didn't stick us with the 3 cylinder motor as the base configuration! Also keeping the 2.0L/AWD configuration upgrade reasonably priced so a nicely equipped XL still comes in below $30k. Those shrewd moves converted me from a "wait and see" observer to a certain buyer.

Good Job Ford(y)
