Tailgate letters for the Iconic Silver

I did not want to highjack the thread about the Area 51 tailgate letters so starting another.

I am getting an XL in Iconic Silver. Thought I would go with the glossy black but am also considering chrome.

I know the latest trend is to black out everything, which I think looks good. However, I am older and have always been a fan of chrome. Also the rear bumper is all black and my thoughts are the chrome might "pop".

Anyone put chrome tailgate letters on the IS?

How do you guys and gals think it might look?

The guy who posted his reflective ones (which were amazing) it was black in the day and came alive at night (with the help of someone’s headlamps).

I purchased them at Etsy, I am currently traveling / visiting Oklahoma and will try to get a link posted here next week.

I have the reflective matt black ones on A51 and they look good. I think it is your truck and if you like chrome, get the chrome letters. Make sure to post photos when you do it.

I love seeing all the little custom things people do. I also blacked out my Ford emblems because I felt the Ford blue looks bad with the Area 51 blue. I don't have any photos at this time but if it stops raining I may be able to get some.

I bought the Ford emblems and the letters on Etsy. Came quickly, no issues. They sat in a drawer for a year waiting on the truck!

Thanks again to the reply! I see black letters with chrome around the edge of them. Which letters did you purchase. I was hoping for the letters to look like the chrome AWD and Ford emblem surround.

I'm in the blackout camp. Specifically mat black-when practical-on my IS. I've tinted the 3rd brake light, front signal lights, and put on mat black tailgate lettering as well as IS lettering over mat black on the 'blue' oval grill and tailgate emblems. I also have on order tint for the front amber side markers and mat black overlays to cover the chrome on the ford emblems. Also on the way are mat black AWD emblem and TWIN TURBO EMBLEM. I'm not a chrome hater. It looks awesome on black, dark grey and deep reds and blues and maybe white. However, IMO chrome clashes with silver and lighter shades of grey.

I have the elevate rack system which is compatible with many of the popular trifold and rollup tonneau covers. There is a compatibility list available, you should be able to find it on Realtruck.com

they only look black due to the way the natural light is hitting the letters. the letters are actually chrome and in most cases when you look at them they look chrome just like the AWD badge. I know it’s probably hard to believe based on my picture but it really is the case. If I get a chance I’ll try and snap a picture depicting the chrome loo
