What are rhe three cut outs on the lower side meant for?
First guess is tool battery holder for brand x ?

I have seen these on other items. Could be a Structural design to stiffen the bottom. There also maybe something on the inside..

never noticed them before. Just checked them out. Sure do look to be something more than just structural. If you buy... Buy the one on the passenger side as is in your picture. I ordered the drivers side, not thinking.... With it in place it blocks the bed light and the plug. UGH !!
