Never heard this before. Went back home when it started. Husband seems to think there is something sticking brake-like? Caliper? feels more than that. No parking brake on, no warning lights, slows down with speed, can increase with speed. Dealership cannot get me in until Wednesday, will call if any cancelations. Call if it gets worse or if warning lights come on. I have other video but this is the first one I have edited. If anyone can give me advice on uploading the actual video, I'm a nurse not an IT gal so I'm limited in those skills.

2nd video. I'll keep everyone posted. Once I get her home from work today I plan on parking her at home until we can get to the dealership

Sounds like something rubbing a brake rotor. Did it just start doing this? May have a brake pad that came apart. Definitely don't drive.

Repaired a lot a brakes and rotors. And at one time my son called me with a horrifying noise from a wheel same characteristics. The brake rotor has a thin metal shield that can sometimes trap a small rock. It makes a horrible noise. Any shop should be able to remove your wheel and flex the shield, allowing the rock to fall free. But Im pretty confident of the issue. In a parking lot, go very slow- the sound should start with any motion and stop when the car stops. dont drive at high speeds so the rock doesnt scratch the rotor - minor thing but get fixed right away

It sure sounds brake related. It could be a rock as mentioned above, or the brake pad fell off, or, as happened to my son's Scion, the brake pads weren't secured by the factory. I think someone here had a Maverick shipped missing the brake pads entirely, if I remember correctly.

Do a visual check of the brake pads and see if anything looks out of the ordinary.

I’m pretty fond of the wide pedal myself. If it don’t work, the skinny one don’t matter. 🤣

An update. Left work early for an appointment. Noise was awful. On my drive I called my husband and told him we are going straight to the dealership after my appointment. Finished, called him to get on the road and meet me. I thought at first that maybe I was wasting everyone’s time because it seemed to settle down. Then I am now communicating directly with a celestial banshee whale. It was so loud!! Scary as hell.
Then it stopped. Nothing. No noise or hint that there was ever an issue. I felt like we should turn around but keep the dealership slot on Wednesday, mainly because if something has been damaged I need that fixed. I do have the grabby brake issues too. But that’s it. She is home, I am safe and the husband is not in the least bit irritated at my mild panic. I’ll update after Wednesday or if something occurs before then.

Hello! I would like to take a closer look at the noise concerns you are having with your Maverick. Could you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer so I can start looking into this on my end?

As a final update, dealership checked all my brakes and rotors-all is well. Technician said it was probably a small rock or debris. Apparently it is more common than most people think. A week before an older lady came in and the rock was still stuck. It was utterly cringeworthy when they brought it into the echoing shop. Also got the TSB update. It might be psychological but I really feel like my grabby brakes are better, and react more normal. Either way, I'm happy.
