Ordered on May 28 arrived at dealer 8/15. Went to pick him up and dealer was on a completely different planet as far as the trade in value and lease numbers for me. I told them now they have one on the lot for sale and unfortunately had to walk away and leave my Maverick behind. It didn't work out for now but I'll give it another try in 6 months or so. I'll still be enjoying this club on a daily basis.
You are smart to not let the dealer try to get you to buy the truck with the bait, and switch pricing. Like Kenny Rogers says, "Know when to walk away, Know when to run"!

I will say I checked carvana to see what they'd give me for car that I traded in and I expected the same from the dealer. Without knowing what carvana offered the dealer offered the same. But it came out to slightly more as the trade was taken off the price of the new car before it was taxed so I figure trading it gave me a few hundred more because of that.
I sold my 2015 Sonata to Carvana, when I ordered my Maverick. If I would of waited for when my Maverick came in, I would of be offered about $5K less! I still had my 2005 Canyon to get around in.

Depending on the state, the value of the trade-in can reduce the sales tax on the new vehicle purchase, so the Cavana/etc offer has to be able to compensate for that.

HRG
Where I live, you have a month or two to sell your old vehicle outright and deduct that from the price of your new vehicle purchase sales tax amount. If you sell it after you title your new truck, you get a refund check from the state later.
