I saw somone post that the hybrid engines are in limited supply. Given my production week (12/11) and the issuing of the Window Sticker (12/19) and the absence of any modules up and running, I am theorizing that the body is built and it is just waiting on the engine. Either that or I am just one of the lucky ones whose trackers never update properly until it’s at the dealership….I feel like Sherlock trying to read tea leaves here….any Watsons out there want to check my theories for plausibility based on your experience?

No, they can't build a truck without an engine. That's not how the assembly line works.

The constraints really only come into play when selecting trucks for build. They have X number of hybrids available that week, they allocate those to X number of trucks and then they get built. If you have a build date then you have an engine already available.

Sometimes they will have small parts that are in short supply and they can run then through the assembly line and park them for final assembly later (this happened with Ford badges at one point) but not a whole engine.

It's probably not the hybrid that's holding you up. My hybrid was scheduled for week of 12/18, and went to built status yesterday (12/23)

They use JIT manufacturing so don't schedule to build what they don't have from a major parts perspective. It's the small trim pieces or accessories most likely holding them up, late supplier or issue with shipment in-transit.

Your order is only pulled & scheduled for production if they have all the available parts to build it. That includes Hybrids.

Delays are often from additional accessories yet to be added, like mud flaps or bed liner.

The tracker will likely update when it's been shipped. Then, expect anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks before it's finally picked up at the terminating rail yard and trucked to your dealer. It took mine ~ a month from when the tracker showed "shipped" until I picked it up at the dealer.
