So Im getting ready to order my 25 Lariat. On the accessories/options tab, I see a tailgate lock for $50 and Touchlink Bed Lighting for $480.

I thought the Lariet's had a locking tailgate and bed lighting? Am I wrong. Dont mind to add these, but only wanted to if they were necessary.

I would talk with your salesman. Yes the Lariat and XLT w luxury group comes with lighting and 120v plug in the bed. Lariat and XLT comes standard with power lock working the lock on the tailgate. XL trim does not but still has a key or manual lock that all trims have. The tailgate lock is an option to prohibits someone walking up to an unlocked tailgate and removing it. Hard to explain but a trucks tailgate is designed that the owner can slightly open the tailgate and remove it. Allowing heavier objects to be loaded right on the bed and not risking damaging a tailgate. That's why they offer a key lock on the tailgate the lock you are referring to I believe would make if you ever wanted to remove the tailgate a whole lot harder and more time to remove the tailgate.

Keep in mind if you lock your doors or the lock on the tailgate it stops someone to remove the tailgate

It's designed or the option is for truck owners mostly in construction that leave the tailgate unlocked to access throughout the day. With it unlocked it is easy or easier for someone to remove the tailgate. The optional tailgate lock only prohibits this if the owner does not lock the tailgate. Kind of hard to explain when they are both called locks. Thus the reason I suggested talking to a salesman.

Hope this information helps.

The "tailgate lock" is an optional additional piece of hardware that attaches to the tailgate pivot hinge. It increases the difficulty of tailgate theft, if you leave the tailgate unlocked.

Unnecessary, if you plan to keep the tailgate locked.

the Maverick has somewhat of a tailgate lock on it already. I got one for my 22 before realizing the truck already had one. Installing the McGard tailgate lock requires removal of the factory one. If you want the McGard one, can find them much cheaper than what the dealer sells them for. I can't even find a pic online of the "factory" tailgate lock that comes on the truck?

I took delivery of my Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid last Friday and still exploring everything - but it definitely has a locking tailgate accessible via the key fab or the FordPass App - the bed has a light installed on the left side of the bed near the tailgate when that is turned on it also illuminates the two lights mounted on back side of the cab
