Hello,
I've just decided to upgrade to a 22 Maverick 2.0L AWD from a 2017 Escape with the same engine.
I'm sure I'm going to have some questions. One is Syncing my phone. With the Escape, all I needed was to link my phone to the car's system and I could make voice activated calls without using data. Now, it seems that I need to use phone data to make calls. Anybody know about this?

So, my discoveries.
Or some differences from my 2017 Ford Escape.
1. my infotainment system doesn't have sync like the Escapes had.
I use an android phone and have figured out the basics of the Android Auto.
If I just plug my phone into the USB, I can get my map location on screen without turning on and using data but to use it as a GPS system, I'd have to turn on data. No big deal ... and I can call home without using data by the push of a couple of screen buttons and I can hang up using the steering wheel controls. Much more capabilities if I turn on data when needed like GPS, news reports, connecting with tunes.
2. The backup screen is much bigger and better than the 2017 Escape's almost unusable screen that is a bit further onto the dash.
3. Same 2.0 in the Maverick as '17 Escape but with two more speeds in the tranny. I think the gas mileage on the Maverick will be about 4 MPG better on average than the Escape & I believe that I can get about 500 miles from a full tank.
4. With the 4K tow pkg. the gears in the Maverick are shifting like mad from a stop and the initial acceleration seems slower unless I step on it. hehe.
5. Frankly, I think that the standard trans position gets better gas mileage than the Eco position on the Mav. .
6. I like the Mav. side mirrors better than the wider Escape ones.
7. The Escape has way better fwd visibility right ahead of the vehicle because of the Mav's big square snoot but the right rear quarter panel area is a blind spot on the Escape because of the wide roof pillars. I don't think it's a problem on the Mav. because of the bigger mirrors.
8. My Mav. has the cargo management channels and a moveable hook on each side but other than a tie down spot and maybe buying a $250 bed divider, I can't figure out any other uses that it can manage. I may need to get some sort of divider because I don't want to have to chase things to the front of the bed to retrieve them.
9. I'm not quite getting the reason for a rotary dial shifter. I prefer the plain fore / aft stick of the Escape so far. I am kind of missing the paddle shifters that the Escape had.

I may keep this going as I discover new features. ...like how she tows my little boat.

Thanks for the information. It's also looking like our android phones are a tad out of date. Seems that Android Auto would be working better with a phone running Android 11 or higher. So, before buying a wireless adapter, we may have to consider upgrading the phones. It's probably time for that with respect to battery life. The tech for our LG phones dates back to 2017 but they've been working really fine enough for our purposes.

I'm liking the decals/transfers. I'll be contacting you about getting one of them.

Well, made the first trip up to the lake towing the C-22. This truck did marvelous in tow mode. It's about 30 miles and fairly flat driving. I'm guessing that with the boat on the trailer, I was getting about 20 MPG and with the plain trailer, closer to 30 mpg. This depended upon what gear it was in. If I can get moving, she shifts to the highest gear at about 58 MPH, the RPMs drop to about 1800 and the MPG's go up to about 35. Another interesting point is that with cruise control engaged, it stayed better in that highest gear. Without, if it dropped any, it would downshift with RPMs at about 2500.
My MPGs were at 30.9 average on the screen before the trip and they're now down to 29.5.

The ride feels way more solid than the 2017 Escape 2.0L and the acceleration in sport mode is about as peppy.

Now that I've got the boat trailered up to the lake, I've recycled the MPG average on the instrument cluster. I know that many people don't go by that as being accurate but it does give me some level of comparison between the three vehicles that I'm familiar with. My wife's 1.5L 2017 FWD Escape which averages in the 27MPG range, my old 2017 2.0L FWD Escape that was averaging about 31-32.5 MPG on summer readings and this 2022 Mav. w/2.0L and AWD. So, after the first 30 miles trip to our sailboat along fairly flat Ohio roads, I'm up to the high 34MPG range. Coming back from the boat it did hit 35.1 MPG average for a short time and I expect that it will again when we travel up to the boat again. I find that I get the best mileage in regular mode on those country roads where I can get it into 8th gear and I can vary the speed. I don't find that the cruise control is best for fuel mileage and I would actually use a feature where I could set the throttle to a fixed position. I think that I need to get used to the gas pedal as it seems just a bit too easy to move compared to previous cars. I also don't go by the quick MPG readout much because it seems to vary quite a bit between readings. Like by about 5 MPG. One reading may be 32.3 and the next 27.6 and then 38.1. The readings are way too frenetic... quick and too specific. However, with the Maverick on the back roads, the readings are often nicely into the 40MPG+ range. The distance to empty reading was actually going up as the average was going up. I've never had such a fuel sipping vehicle that can have such raw power on acceleration when it's asked. I thought that about the '17 Escape 2.0L and this truck is even better .

Discovered that the storage bin in rear passenger side of the bed has a trap door that is a hidden storage bin.

Yesterday, I was looking at the front and discovered that the active louvers for the tranny cooler had a leaf stuck in it. I also noticed that they didn't look symmetrical across...like one was busted but the lower louver had somehow got caught on the next one up on the driver's side. So, I unjammed it and they o-all opened right up. I also tested it and showed my wife how to start the truck with just the key fob. She needs to do things rather than me just show her how. Anyway, when I started it, they closed and opened properly...so, I assume that all is well with them and that they didn't get damaged from being stuck in one position.

Still pulling like a champ. 2nd trip to the lake and no problems .

Weight is about 3500 to 3800 lbs. Distance from home is about 35 miles on mostly straight & flat roads. & No, we don't tow with the mast up. Didn't need to learn from that recent Mexican ship the Cuauhtemoc mishap.
