I am seriously behind the power curve on this one. Just learned about the Maverick a month or so ago as my wife and I were discussing the need for a small pickup. Technically we've needed one for years, but have been able to put it off thanks to willing friends and family who have trucks.

A quick search of current model trucks lead me to the Maverick. My primary need is to transport full sheets of plywood. When I saw the Flexbed was made with hauling sheet goods in mind, and saw the MSRP, I was sold.

So I have been calling dealers, voicing interest and making contacts to hopefully find an XLT sometime this year.

My best option right now is an XL model where the dealer is 99% sure the buyer is backing out once it is delivered. Can't decide to bite or wait and order a 2023 XLT the way I want it and just wait until next year to actually receive it.

To make matters a little worse, my buddy bought a new truck Friday. Just happens to be a Maverick XLT he ordered last July. He brought it over yesterday for a test drive and I am sold. Tried my best to trade my kids for the truck but he didn't take the offer.

Welcome from New Bern. My husband was on board early, and he took delivery of a first edition lariat about a month ago. It's a nice truck. I like it.

Honestly, if the XLT is what you want, wait for it. Call around or email lots of dealers in the meantime to get them to put you on their wait list. My husband and actually ordered two trucks with slightly different builds, planning to buy whichever one showed up first. Based on a lot of forum comments over the months, we're not the only ones who bought one and left one on the dealer's lot. If you're patient, you may luck up and find exactly what you want.

If not, you can always order one when the 2023's open up.

Welcome Hoodoo. I already own a XL awd 4k-tow 2.0 that I had ordered and have another XL Hybrid 2k-tow on order which should be scheduled for build anytime. I will be selling one and keeping the other. FYI as you know dealer sold Mavericks are rare and usually sold at a premium markup. (Mine - 2.0 is silver and Hybrid will be Area51). So far my Maverick is the only one I have seen on the road.
