Maverick XLT Hybrid, delivered on January 13, odometer reading 3,350 miles,. On July 1 parked at home, got out and hit the "lock" on keyfob and got no response. Got back in and vehicle was totally and completely dead. Called dealer and he sent salesman with jump box and jumped it off. Started right up and ran great. Cut it off and it went stone cold dead again. Jumped back off and drove to dealer. Check engine light was on. Arrived at dealer and turned off- stone cold dead again. Dealer wrote ticket on 7-01. Called me on 7-05 and said it was a short somewhere in the wiring harness going to the positive terminal of the battery. He said he had no tech that he was comfortable with allowing to go further with the repair (very small town dealer). He sent it via rollback 70 miles to another Ford dealer in his parent company's network. That dealer called me on 7-08 to say that it was a defective wiring harness going to the positive side of the battery. They then informed me that the harness was on back-order and they would call me on 7-11 to give me the anticipated date they could get the harness. As many of you fellas who have reported dead Maverick Hybrids, how is it that Ford has not acknowledged the problem with faulty wiring harnesses?
Then today I get news that Maverick Hybrids have just announced a recall over a crankshaft machining problem that could lead to a fire. The fix? "Dealers will add drain holes to an under-hood shield and change the active grill shutters to allow more air flow and reduce under-hood temperatures to below the ignition point of fuel vapor or engine oil". WHAT ABOUT THE CRANKSHAFT MACHING PROBLEM THAT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL????????? What the heck??
