Hey everyone,

I just wanted to inquire with everyone about a situation we are experiencing. I am in Canada and to take delivery of my Maverick next week. I ordered on January 28, 2023 (base XL) and the truck was built on Sept 9, 2023 and shipped on Sept 24, 2023. We had a signed bill of sale with a specific price plus taxes and licensing quoted to us. I reached out to the dealer today to just verify that the price on the bill of sale is correct so I can prepare a cheque for the delivery next week.

His response to me was the base price went up $500 + tax since you ordered in January, so the bill of sale will be adjusted. He further advised that the prices for the Maverick vary during the year, and can go up and Ford does not offer price protection on the Maverick. My understanding is that MSRP usually stays the same during the year until next year model is released (2024). I am taking delivery of a 2023 Maverick, how is the dealer asking for more suddenly? Are we being deceived?

Please let me know as soon as possible.

My dealer in South Carolina told me prices did go up by $500 but they would honor the original price I didn't have to ask they just did it. Maybe they are hoping you will back out so they can sell at higher price.
I would call Ford customer service

I ordered my 2023 Maverick XL with CP360 by phone, on 15 Sept., 2022. No deposit and no signed papers, from a small town dealer with a known good reputation. I took delivery two days ago and my delivery price was not any higher than the quoted price on the day I ordered, even though prices increased later in the '23 model year. There is Ford Price Protection for the '23 model year - at least in the US.

Rollovers to MY24 get a Private Offer instead, due to options package changes.

In the US, it is up to the dealer whether or not to pass along Price Protection to the person who placed the order.

My Maverick took 18 months to get here. By that time the price for the same package had gone up over $600. My dealership related that Ford, indeed does a price protection for the original price you signed for. This dealership sounds like they are scamming you for more money.

Thanks everyone, those are the same conclusions that I made. Ford Customer Service on the phone did indeed confirm that they offer price protection on a signed deal as long as it is delivered to the same customer. The price protection is offered as a rebate to the dealer within 45 days after the sale goes through. It is up to the dealer to pass that on.

Luckily my dealer advised me this morning that they will take care of the price difference and we won't have to pay anything extra. I respect that decision and it is definitively a way to keep a customer happy.

Glad you got the PP on the order. Shame on the dealer trying to play you and lie about price protection. Even though they finally came clean, it may be a good idea to share the name of the dealer so others know to be aware of the games they try and play.

Good luck with your Maverick. My truck arrived early this week but I can't take it till next week. Can't wait to finally get it.

Our dealer honored the price of the MAV when we ordered it. (9-15-22) And that is what we paid
