Sometimes, we may overlook this day because of the perceived distance and sternness associated with our fathers. It may seem like fathers are always the figures of stern discipline, making them hard to approach.

However, as we ourselves become fathers, we begin to realize that their stern guidance was what made us stronger and more confident adults. Their life experiences taught us to face challenges without fear, instilling in us the ability to find solutions and tackle problems head-on. Beneath their stern face, there lay a quiet concern and a profound, unspoken love.

I am first and foremost looking forward to giving him some of my time and attention. Secondly, I am facilitating time for him to spend with his grandchildren (my kids). He absolutely adores being Papa.

As for a gift, I am working on setting up a home server to host an archive of family videos. He collected a lot of old family film reels from my grandparents. He took those along with a bunch of stuff he recorded and had them all converted to DVD. I plan to take that project next level with a remote accessible server so he can have access to the entire archive whenever, wherever. He should be able to add to it from his phone as well.
