Knoc knock Behind the Speedometer !

Does anyone else here have the same problem? My Tremor has a "knock-knock" sound that seems to come from behind the speedometer whenever I drive over minor road imperfections. It’s annoying! I went to Ford, and the technician claimed it’s "normal." Believe it or not, he even had me drive one of their test-drive vehicles, and—would you believe it?—it had the exact same noise! In short, they say there’s nothing that can be done. If any of you happen to know of a solution, please let us know!

Here is the TSB for that problem. But the TSB has a problem, too. For whatever reason, it is limited to 2wd versions only. This makes no sense so far I can glean, as the area involved that causes the noise is the same for 2wd and 4wd.

My local dealer was shockingly helpful and responsive. When I brought my 2024 xlt 4wd in for this knocking problem, they had never heard of the issue and did not know of the TSB. I brought the TSB to their attention and they pointed out that It applied to 2wd only. But because my ‘24 is still under warranty, they applied the TSB-prescribed fix at no cost to me.

It didn’t work. The tech found it impossible to put the foam blocks into place without shredding them on all the sharp edges and rendering them ineffective.

So my dealer reached out to me and explained this. He said they could order another set of foam blocks and try again, but they were sure the same thing would happen. So they asked if I would consider letting them install a new dash. They called Ford and got authority to remove and replace my entire dash from the speedo back. I was hesitant to allow them to do this out of concern it might cause new noises to arise. Thankfully it solved the issue and I’m now knock/rattle-free.

The SA reported to me that their tech put 15 hours into getting this right. I was impressed.
