Hello,
I just ordered a Ranger. I had thought about a Maverick, but with only 2000# towing I had wrote the Maverick off.
Then, browsing around YouTube I saw a video where it can tow 4000# with a certain configuration and the tow package.
So, I'll be hanging out here also to read up more on the Maverick.
Thanks for the forum.

, unless you need the bed space of the ranger, the mav has more interior room, better mpg, and is cheaper and looks better imo if you just need the 4k tow package.

I get it on the towing. 2000lbs aint nothing and really 4000lbs isnt either. Cant really haul anything bigger than a Miata,if that even. The 7500lbs of the Ranger is attractive. We just dont want a full size truck our selves. We have and old full size Bronco that we are just gonna keep alive to have fun or haul stuff with. Its not like we can go cross country out here on the islands towing anyways.

For us the Ranger is the same size as the compact Maverick on the inside, which is ample enough. But also the same size as a full sized truck on the outside. We just decided that smaller was better and 25mpg for us is double what were used to so thats just awesome. We are waiting for our 22 to roll over to 23 so we can get a Tremor, yeah it cant haul much but we arent towing anything that much anyways. It should be good enough offroad to keep up with out life.

At the end of the day. Just figure out what you will actually do with it and what you actually want to spend. And there you are.

Camping with a 3000# trailer would probably be the most. I have a classic beater 65 Chevy C10 that I can tow and haul on the occasion it's over what a Maverick can do.
I guess I'm also leaning more towards the Maverick over the Ranger is I'm thinking for day to day driving and the occasional icy road, the Maverick fits better.

Thats why we werent too butt hurt when we heard the Tremors tow rating. Honestly to me I would think the Tremor packages should've been something like a Overland Camper Special. High clearance, high tow rating, high payload, high traction. Seems like they went for appearance over capability. Too bad because you have to be real particular on your order to get something decent offroad with high tow/haul capacities. Yet they say they are after the Overlanding market.
