I’ve had my 2024 Maverick XLT Tremor for over a month now and I am still thoroughly enjoying it. Love most of the noises it makes so far (weed whacker exhaust, heat shield rattle, and GDI noises aside). It’s hilariously laggy if you’re looking for a little and just getting it to close the veins is pretty satisfying. I’ve had Mazda’s 2.5L GDi Turbo in a Mazda 6 which was very quiet but with just a drop in AEM DryFlow filter would kinda make the engine liven up a bit. Also, the compressor noises (not just the woosh and hiss but the whine) became more apparent. That engine was fully recirculated and cooled so almost no fun noises unless you rolled down the window and listened closely.

As for my question, what is everyone’s experiences with intakes or box filters. Is there a non-oil based box filter that is generally seen as the one to get for the 2.0 EB? And do they improve the sound inside the car at all? As for performance getting more out of the bottom end of the rev range is always welcome, but I’m not going to be racing anyone.

This is always a fun topic- I myself really enjoy having this S/B intake on my FX4- Just a touch more intake growl and a little BOV whoosh addition but still quiet as can be. Its got a little more butt in seat oomph - The way that Ford limits the turbo PSI when accelerating from a stop gets in the way of the fun, an intake cant fix that along with the transmission that gets confused when you want the beans so it is what it is- For me I was just happy getting rid of that POS/OEM filter housing assembly- I went with the dry extendable unit -

The fit and finish of the S/B intake is top notch- BTW

I still haven’t seen the refrigeration unit that cools the incoming air flow. That’s a lot of air moving really fast.

I figure 30,000 BTU’s could bring the inbound air temp down five to seven degrees below ambient air temps.

Cold air intake,
I’m not falling for that brilliant piece of marketing.
