Any thoughts in regards to a close to fully loaded Lariat 2.0 (window sticker attached) that's been in production for almost 2 months?

I didn't place this order but found it online and available. Used the 'contact me' feature and then spoke the dealer salesman via phone. They said the truck was waiting to ship with a delivery ETA of mid/late april. Dealer asked for a $1000 'non-refundable' deposit in order to reserve the vehicle at an agreed price (5K mark up over MSRP).

Dealer sales rep confirmed multiple times in writing that the vehicle is 'just awaiting shipment' and 'is all set'. When I asked about build status they sent me an attached photo (3/8/22). (Note this photo appears to be taken 1/21/22).

Plugging the window sticker data into Ford's website reflects that the vehicle is not 'built' yet.

Not sure what to think. I'm asking myself if the dealer is just dumb or dishonest. Or is it possible Ford's website is inaccurate and the dealer has better information on delivery?

TBH I'm not getting a great feeling from these people but I've never gotten one from any car salesman. In any case I put the deposit on my C.C. so I'm protected from any shenanigans.

Thoughts, opinions?

Today it does feel like a rip off... but at the rate things are going I suspect I'll look back at this price 5 years from now and think, "that was a pretty fair deal".

If inflation hangs around at 7% for the next few years a bare bones XL will run almost 30k.... I might feel pretty good about my purchase in those conditions

The price doesn't bother me so much... it's the dealers deception. That jerk told me several times it was just "waiting to ship". Very disappointed to find its still in never ever land.
