Hello everyone,

Yes you guessed it, I’m new here and I’m sure it’s going to take me a while to get to know my way around so please be patient with me. I am not a Maverick owner nor do I have a pending order In the system. I’ve never owned a tuck before so Im sure I’ll be asking a lot of newbie type questions.

I’m looking into the Maverick because my kids moved to Florida and I’m putting a lot of mileage on my Escape running back and forth. My Mustang doesn’t have the trunk space and the other half doesn’t drive stick so…..
I like the creature comforts available in the Lariat, something you need when driving 16 hours so I’m leaning that way.

Thanks for the welcome. From what I have seen/read here already this is the right place to get honest opinions and information regarding the Maverick. My Mustang is quick but it’s not a beast like my son’s hellcat but I’ll put him in his place on the first turn;). My sister had a Maverick in the early 70’s, it had a 3 speed Hurst shifter on the floor, why I don’t know lol

My old 74 Mav had 3spd auto with a hurst shifter. Still had the 140 HP 302. As soon as it made the slightest valve tick I yanked it and dropped in a aluminum headed high compression 306 with a demon carb. Then the shifter fit it better!

Test drive one first. I find the mav reasonably comfortable for longer trips but everyone is different. It seems to like driving at highway speeds since that's pretty much where the turbo power band is. No problems passing at 70+mph. The ride might be a little busy compared to a bigger, heavier more luxury type vehicle but I find it easily tolerable.

It's a very practical vehicle with the crew cab and especially if you get a hard tonneau which turns the bed into a gigantic trunk. AWD Ecoboost MPG averages just under 30 for me when we do highway trips without trying too hard to economize.

IIRC Chapman still has 1% off invoice so check with them if you decide to order.

Thank you for the information. I have the same 2.0 engine in the Escape and it gets on average 33/34 MPG driving down to Florida In eco mode.

Does your escape have an engine cover?

Whereabouts in SE PA? I'm in Chester County. Love my Lariat, but I get frustrated with some things like the most recent build of Sync 3. Overall, I love the truck tho. I wish I didn't have some rock dings on it already at 22K miles.

As far as long hauls are concerned, I am also a prior Mustang owner and driving this pickup is so much easier on you. With the 42ish MPG on the highway, and the 360 and lane assist, I can drive longer with the pickup without getting tired.

I’m in Delaware County. If and when I get a Maverick I’m hoping it will rides as good as the Escape. My Escape has the adaptive cruse control, lane centering, heads up display and cruise control so it’s a joy to drive on long trips.
