I bought a dash mat, then I noticed that the headlights would be on when I would start truck no matter if was day or night. Or is ment to just go from high and low beam and constantly stay on when in auto.
The question is were is eye or sensor for head lights, and what is it function and could it be covering the eye?

There's a sensor in the center front of the dashboard. Being an XLT the headlights will come on when in Drive assuming Daytime Running Lights are enabled. But if it's also illuminated things like your rear marker lights and the green headlight icon on the instrument cluster then, yes, the sensor is likely blocked and constantly thinks it's night.

DRLs come on, regardless of trim level. Unless you have turned them off in Settings.
