Getting Applink to work on Sync 3 (in Luxury Package)

Have been trying to work with Ford online help in regards getting Apps Link to work on the Sync 3 system that comes with Lariat Luxury package. After talking to several folks on Ford Chat, one sent me a long email with the steps to reset Sync 3 and pairing. But at the bottom of the email of explanations was this…

My understanding is applink is a carry-forward from Sync 2 (maybe even earlier? Sync 1?) and allows control of apps on your phone over the Bluetooth connection. It's sort of a defunct now that Android Auto and Apple Carplay screen sharing are a thing.

I guess the Sync 3 with navigation and the Sirius Traffic/Weather features are all that will work now. Time to get a wireless adapter and use CarPlay
