Gator tri-fold tonneau cover/MPGs

Has anyone else logged MPGs before and after install? I swear I lost 2-3 mpg at speeds over 60. Went to KY this week and averaged 26.7 on the highway. I normally average 29 ish on that same stretch of hwy. I know people will think I'm crazy, but I've been watching it for 10 days now. The cover has so much air getting in it bubbles up 3-4" above the bed rails. I took it off. I'll report back.

That's a lot of movement. Mine moves a little but I'd say less than an inch. And I have a Gator tri fold also.. Can't comment on mpg without because I had my cover before my truck and it was on within a week.

I started using ac when I got it so I've dropped 4mpgs from that. There was an episode of mythbusters about the tailgate but I dont remember if they did a cover too

Interesting. I got mine in March 2022 (Hydrid Lariat) and I was consistently getting 40-42 mpg in town and 30-33 highway. I have the Ford rollup tonneau cover and it stays down almost all the time. With summer here (Texas 100+ heat) I did notice a dropoff in MPG running the AC. I have not experimented with driving with the cover up and bed open. But I think I might give that a whirl out of curiousity if nothing else.

Gator trifold tonneau here but no bubbling on mine and lays flat at any speed.
Don't think I saw a mileage change but never really checked.

No noticeable decline here, if anything it may be helping. I got my cover shortly after getting the truck so I didn't have a ton of pre cover mileage but I feel like my commute to work has been getting better and better after the cover has been installed. And my commute is mostly highway. As far as movement, the fabric flutters at speed, like any other soft cover would, but the frame and structure are in place with no issue. Great cover and I am very happy with it.

Have undercover armor tonneau . no difference in mpg in city . haven't been on highway yet with it on .
