For those that have installed the hood scoop?

I was surprised to see it came with a buytl tube of sealant. I guess I thought it was 3m tape only. Those of you that installed has everyone used the butyl.
Before you go off I understand the reasons to use it..just curious what other have thought and how did the application go

I used the tube in the kit. I recently installed all new glass in a classic car and this feels and looks like the same stuff to install windshields and back glass with.
Hard to squeeze out of the tube. But I used it and the tape. No issues at all

I had mine painted at a body shop and installed there. They had to purchase another tube of Butyl, as the one that came with the scoop was as hard as a rock. But, yes, there is a reason. What happens if the double sided tape comes free after a period of time? Your hood scoop is going to fly back and hit your windshield, go over top of the roof, and into traffic behind you. The butyl helps seal it and keeps it stuck to the hood. Also keeps water out from getting underneath the scoop. The tape is porous and will let water seep under.
