The day has finally come. Ordered back on June 21, arrived last Thursday some time, took delivery yesterday Dec 13th. I thought It may be benificial for others to know my experience since ordering as those who have shared before me greatly helped in my process and tracking along the way.
-Ordered June roughly a week after announcement and confirming everything meets requirements based on information provided
- radio silence up here in Canada until VIN was provided sometime in late September
- From there I was able to track progress only though the forum's tracker. Build date was for week of Oct 25-29th
- Once 'In Production' started I was able to track from Ford's site as well
- MTC tracker was able to let me know it was built and shipped late Nov. No Rail info so not able to track until it arrived somewhere in Canda and was then able to track via Palsapp until it was delivered.
Almost 6 months since initial June order to arrive, and roughly 3 months since scheduled to delivered.
Quick 24hr review
Truck drives great! As others have said its exactly like driving a smaller SUV or Crossover. LOVE the seat height, though still wanting to increase the ride height a touch more with tires and possibly a lift. Havent had much time to drive it outside of normal daily routine and paved roads but it's good. Carbonized Grey color is just superb on how it shifts in shades and lights.
Good:
- I like the interior of the XLT Lux. I'm 5' 10 and had plenty of room to raise the seat with at least 6" to spare for headroom
- good line of site on gauges, infotainment screen, controls etc
- denim like material feels durable yet still soft and comfortable
- great back seat room for the entire family. Under 6ft still have plenty of comfortable leg room behind driver seat
- Navy pier plastics are a lot darker than photos. In sunlight you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between black dash or navy pier one
- factory trifold tonneau cover appears fantastic so far. Will wait for the wash\snow test later this week
- ride is on the quiet side in cabin. Ecoboost doesnt sound any louder that past 4cyl cars
- headlights are fanstastic and really light up the road at night
- acceleration is nice and quick for merging and passing
Bad:
- rearview mirror is narrow. Could be larger and cover the entire back window
- no deep bass (already known) but it does sound clear and has a thump for base factory stereo
- screen cubby size seems completely useless for anything. Was hoping to add a boost guage there
Otherwise really happy so far, and well worth the wait. We are expecting snow and temps to drop below -20*C later this week so I will have a better feel for the Pirelli's then before judging the tires. Here are some quick pics I took before getting dirty.
