Anyone know what this bracket for, intended use? I just discovered it, having tail gate open and see a screw/bolt loose. I suspect the crew who sprayed liner removed it, and didn’t properly installed it. Screw threads ok, but won’t screw into a fastener indide the gate.

The only observation I see when closing the gate is it tends to “catch” the gate latch cable, folds it nicely into cavity between the gate side and side of bed sidewall.

Or it could be a tie down clip for any tie down if gate open, and a load rests on top of the gate. Think of a motorcycle?

If you purchase a tailgate damper kit, one end attaches using the hole where the bottle opener/tie down is. You do loose the bracket but the tailgate opens gently. Nice upgrade.

I believe it’s in the manual. It’s a bottle opener or tie down.

Thanks fellas. I resign myself to see it as a tie down bracket. In my case, for anything but a motorcycle. You see, I unloaded my bike, bike #9, 4 yrs ago. Age creep forced me to put kickstand down for good.

I gave up 2 wheeling after doing a short flight over the front fork (crossed it up while trying to do something “really cool”) and earned myself a nice road rash. Sometimes I miss it, until I remember how much I like having skin on my forearms.

Those are factory tie downs when using your adjustable tailgate, and they double as a bottle opener as well

That is where you install your tailgate assist so you do not drop the tailgate on your knee. Remove the bracket since you have one on the other side and it works great when you are serving grape Nehi to your buddies, or to open that bottle of Miller High Life.

I understand. That is why I ordered a Maverick. My wife and I decided it was time to stop riding motorcycles due to age and health issues. I said I will sell them and get a truck. I have a nice 2022 Indian FTR1200 and 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 for sale. The Maverick is scheduled for build next week 1/15.

Fine with me!!!! Back in the day i would enjoy the majority of the brands Except Budweiser, for whatever reason it produced instant headaches on me. At my age now mostly had to give it up but once a blue moon i can manage to down 1/2 bottle of an Ice Cold one. Hope you enjoy yours!
