Bogus retail window stickers?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when a Maverick window sticker contains W8E, it's a hybrid, and W8F, it's an EB -- no exceptions, right? I ask this because I was searching the Ford Maverick inventory in the Naples FL area where I found an XLT in Alto Blue with a W8E VIN on the window sticker and the ECO Boost engine as well. What gives?

Done. It confirms it's an Ecoboost, but my question is about the W8E and W8F designator in the VIN. How can a unique code have more than one meaning?

It appears W8E is front wheel drive and W8F is AWD. Has nothing to do with the engine.

So the answer is you are mistaken, I guess.

So, W8E9 is a FWD Ecoboost and W8E3 is the FWD Hybrid.
