What is BamBed?
BamBed for the Maverick consists of two panels and two rails. It is multipurpose platform designed specifically for the Ford Maverick (more vehicles coming soon). It has a close and precisely designed fit which fills the bed fully from side to side. Being above the wheel wells enables a wide sleeping area suitable for two adults on a full-size mattress. The multi-segment design allows for quick reconfiguration as needed to transport tall items like coolers or mountain bikes. Unlike permanently fastened drawer or deck systems, this platform can be removed in under a minute with no tools - allowing full use of your truck bed when you need it. It is small enough to store in a closet when not in use.

The tailgate extension option is handy for the short bed of the Maverick and allows two 6' tall adults to sleep comfortably without being squished shoulder to shoulder between the wheel wells.

All products are made from an industrial-grade Baltic Birch structural 3/4" thick panel that has been precisely CNC cut and finished with rounded edges for a smooth ergonomic feel. This isn't the splinter-filled and warped plywood that you'd buy at the local hardware store and it won't take you a whole weekend to design and build!

Strength Guarantee
Each Board can support well over 750lbs on its own, the entire platform can support well beyond the payload capacity of the Maverick.
If a board were to ever break, we'll send you a replacement at no charge.

How Much Space is underneath?
The boards have a 10" vertical clearance from the top of the ridges in the bed

Bed Liner Compatibility: Stock or Spray in Liner Only (Not Compatible with Plastic Liner)

Didn't you mention elsewhere that this doesn't fit with a drop-in bed liner? If yes, why not?

I've mentioned it in the product description on my website and just updated the tread here for consistency.

It may work with the plastic liner but I haven't had the chance to test that yet so I won't guarantee the fit at this time. As you all know this truck is a hard one to get your hands on. If you have the factory plastic liner add on and you live near Santa Barbara CA please reach out and let's do a fit check!

Seems a bit pricey. People with a little know how could build something for way less money.

This is for people willing to pay for the convenience, just like paying ADM to get a Mav today.

$500 for some nice plywood seems absurd, but I'm sure they will sell some. At least it does appear to be well made.
There are some people out there that will want to DIY this to save money and I completely understand that. Some people value their time less than others or just genuinely enjoy working with wood, myself included.

If you want to build it yourself you'll need two 4x8' sheets of .75" plywood. You can use a cheaper grade than what I use but you'll face warping issues and delamination over time due to moisture exposure. I use Baltic Birch which has waterproof glue which prevents delamination and will hold up even in moist conditions for decades.

The main board dimensions are approximately 53 x 26"
The rails are about 10 inches tall and they have a closely machined fit which isn't practical to achieve with hand tools. You can make a joint that works but it won't fit as nicely as something made on a CNC.

In order to make this you'll need the following tools:
Table saw or circular saw, jig saw, a router, 1/8" round over bit, and sander with 220ish grit sandpaper. Those tools can be bought for about $500 or cheaper if you're getting them used.

The length of time you'll spend making this will depend on your experience, but for the average home woodworker this would take a couple of days to design and build.

Let me know if you want any advice on making this or something similar yourself. I've thought a lot about this problem.

For more context on BamBeds, it's my own business, I'm the founder, engineer, designer, sales guy, customer service, prototype maker, you name it I do it. I started this about a year ago. I had made something similar for my Tacoma and personally slept on it for many months cumulatively over the last 4-5 years. It has been a wildly successful product for the tacoma so far and if you don't believe me, head on over to tacomaworld and take a look! BamBed was an Idea that I wanted to bring to market because it is simple and makes going truck camping a whole lot easier than most of the aftermarket world makes it out to be. You don't need anything permanently installed like a rooftop tent, pop-up wedge camper, deck and drawer system... All of which cost $2000-$7000 and will drastically hurt your fuel mileage in the little mav. A camper shell and a few thoughtfully designed boards does the trick. Throw in whatever sleeping pad or full size mattress you have and you're good for a few nights out on the road.

Looks like a very nice product and well made. I am curious as to why it's so much more expensive than your Tacoma kits? Thanks and good luck with the company.

Thank you!
There's a few reasons for the price difference compared to the tacoma products, the main reason is the lower volume of production, also additional material needed for the vertical rail supports, and more precise cutting needed for the joints between the rails and boards. The tacoma is just 3 identical boards which is possible due to the convenient ledge that runs the whole length of the tacoma bed. The maverick doesn't have this ledge so the rails provide the vertical support.

I was actually planning to do the same type of deal with a piece of marine grade plywood. I would cut the end a little short and put hinges on it so it would fit in the bed with the tailgate closed and then could be unfolded.
Yeah hinges would work good. I saw someone who made a raised platform to put a tent on it. I said should put hinged side flaps with adjustable legs to make it wider.

Bravo to you sir! I wondered how long it would take for someone to balk at the price (seems to be a theme on the forum). Price and value are relative, and small businesses live or die on proper profit margin. You know your costs, you know your business, and you know your product.

Props for being early to the game and building what looks to be a killer product. Best of luck with it!
