As you may know there is a TSB (24-2411) that addresses this issue, I have just installed some Form tail lights and noticed how not flush they sit, turns out my old tail lights did this too. I spoke to the Ford dealer about the issue and of course they said since I had aftermarkets now they wouldn't touch it. I spent about $90 for the parts to do it myself.
It was slightly better, but the issue persisted.
I wasted $90...
I decided to take another route, I would just screw the headlights in from the back side instead of using the clip and rod setup.
One hole is accessible when removing the power panel or storage panel depending on the side. The other isn't reachable. I yolo'd it and drilled a hole through my bed. I used what I had kicking around which I believe were some m4x12 bolts and for the bottom hole (which is really a slot) I used a fender washer.
The result is great and the tail lights cannot pop out now.
I put some gaffer tape on the holes for now, but I have some grommet plugs on order to cover them up.
Pictures coming soon.
