My XLT Area 51 is built and waiting to be shipped. This is not my first new vehicle, but it's the first I've actually given a damn about.

I've been looking at a couple of accessories I may add when it arrives. I'm wondering if any people have had experience with these add-ons and whether they are worth it.
First, the dashcam with rear facing camera bundle. I am assuming that this will be hard wired, so I won't have to look at the dangling USB cable while I drive. I gather it stays on, or at least will activate if some Chevy owner decides to abuse my Mav. I also gather it doesn't have the ability to notify me on my phone if someone is doing bad stuff. Has anyone tried this, and was it worth it?

Second, the Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System. I'm thinking I should get this, but I'd love to know the experiences other people have had with the system.

The pic is not my Mav, which hasn't arrived. This is an Area 51 XLT I saw in the local Costco parking lot. The guy was in love with it.

Thanks.

I've got both a dashcam (front and rear), and Perimeter Plus. In my opinion, both are worth it. I don't get notices on my phone from the dashcam (at least I don't think so, but nothing has happened yet when I'm not in the truck). The PP sets off the horn, and I get an alert on my phone, although unfortunately, not an audible alert. An added bonus with PP is you get remote start from the key fob capability. I would recommend both.

A low tech accessory I suggest is the tailgate damper. No wires, no tech but it helps with one-handed lowering of the tailgate by taking the pressure off your wrist. Next low-tech add-on is spray in bed liner if it is not part of a package you ordered.
