We've had just one car, a 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS, for awhile now. Decided it was time for a 2nd vehicle for the wife to drive. After looking at the options, the 2023 Ford Maverick looked like the best fit. I've spent a few thousand dollars renting trucks for moving, house projects, etc, so a truck made sense. Having a Camaro, I did visit the Chevy dealer to look at Chevy trucks. $40k? No way. The Ford was the only one sub-$30k, and yet also got crazy good MPG (hybrid obviously). After looking at local Ford dealers in Riverside, CA who wanted $13k over retail for a Maverick, I went online to look. It wasn't hard to find Tim at Long McArthur Ford in Salinas, Kansas. Having grown up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which meant driving through Salinas often to get over to Colorado for skiing trips, I knew the town, and have a love for the area.

I watched all the videos. Followed and liked the channel, content, and then had my pre-order ready when the MY (Model Year) 2023 order banks opened in September 16th, of 2022. I sent my pre-order in from the days before, so Tim knew the options wanted. Primarily, it was the rear slider, cruise control, and trailer hitch. Wife also liked the remote start on my Camaro SS, so that went on the order too. The order banks opened, Tim got our order in fast, and the waiting began. We did get a screenshot of the order confirmation and an email from Ford. I then got a Ford email every 45 days or so. I'd also occasionally pester the Ford hotline which was always very friendly and helpful. You can imagine my dismay when they made changes for MY24 that negatively impacted our choices if we rolled over: Rear slider went to Lariat only and Hybrid became an "option" for a $$$ bump. It looked like, "$19k starting price" truck was going to be mid $30k when finally delivered.

As MY2024 approached, it appeared our MY23 wouldn't get built. However, I was very nicely surprised when I got an email, "Your Maverick has been scheduled," on July 20th, 2023. If you're following, you know the MY24 order bank opened the week before, and we rolled our MY23 order to MY24, with another confirmation email from Ford, "Your MY24 order is confirmed." Our '23 Mav was going to be built Sept 25th, 2023. You can imagine our nice surprise when Sept 18th, 2023, I noticed the web site tracker updated to, "Your Maverick is in production." About two weeks later it was built and shipped. On Sept 29th, we got the Ford email "Its shipped!"

The excitement built as I tracked the train travel across the US to around the Chicago area when finally it showed delivered, Oct 18th. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a new Long McArthur video with all the Hybrid Mavericks delivered, and then what do you know! Here's our truck (YT FFWD to our specific truck in the video):

It took Long McArthur Ford about a week to in-process the truck and then get it shipped by truck (car carrier) to us. It was here in 3 days, shipping from Salinas, Kansas to Riverside County, California. The truck arrived in perfect shape, and 18 miles on the odometer. First week of November we even had a nice package of gourmet chocolate chip cookies saying, "Thank you for buying from Long McArthur Ford."

The whole process with Long McArthur was very positive. We started with Tim, who has about 1/2 dozen sales people helping him. We worked with Chris Herbst and his helper, Nate Long. Phone messages were quickly answered, and email were as well. We've had the truck 10 days now and been using it to get around town. Wife loves it, and somehow I got it to fit in the garage. Gas gauge hasn't moved, whereas I know we would have burned a 1/4 tank in the Camaro (at $5.60 gal for Super Unleaded).

I've been going through MaverickTruckClub looking for things to do with it. I did order the stock, OEM Ford mud flaps, which I installed the day I got the truck. I also have a drop in tray for the dash, and another for the center console from Amazon. I 3D-printed a "vent style insert" for the cubby next to the 8" monitor to then use a Phone holder meant to mount on air vents. The 3D prints were found from threads on this forum.

Now the wife wants speakers upgraded in the doors, and a sub. I'm leaning towards my old favorites: Focal and Hertz. I have Hertz 6" separates in my Camaro and love them. I found the thread here with the stealth subs and will likely mount it behind the rear bench seat (back wall, vertical mount, passenger side) after trimming the stock bracket that seems to be never used from all the YT video's I've looked through. If you know of any car stereo shops in the Riverside or San Diego area that carry Focal and/or Hertz, I'd appreciate any recommendations, especially if you have 1st hand experience with them.

And that's it for now. I'll be very active here so you should start seeing me pop up here and there, and then if it seems like I can help the community, I'll post up videos on my YouTube channel, which for now is really just mostly about drones: https://www.youtube.com/@schuberttech

OH! And one more thing: Final price financed: $29070!! So actually BELOW MSRP!! I can't say enough positive things about Long McArthur Ford, and Tim Bartz. Buy with confidence from him and his staff. They also had been holding onto my mud flaps since Feb 2023, when I had used a 20% promo from FordMoCo to buy them. They were sitting in the back seat when I got the truck. The delivery guys were also super nice and easy to work with. I am "working from home," but took the day off the day of delivery. I get a call, "Your truck is here!" And, yep, there it was! I pull up Live View to wait, when I realized, he was already here (screen shot of the live view I saw below).

2023 Maverick Order.webp
I’ve had similar experience with Tim & Lonnie at long MacArthur. I bought an F-150 last spring that I saw on his lot-walk because I expected the maverick I had on order would be carried over. They treat people so well it’s hard to believe. I got the cookie tin as well. Showed up at my door a week later.

I have a 24 Mav XL hybrid on order and when it’s built I’m flying there again and I can’t wait.

The first two Mavericks (2022 and 2023) and a 2022 PHEV Escape were ordered through Autonation Ford of Tustin. All three were sold to us at MSRP without any issues whatsoever. Yet, new management came in, and suddenly, the Retail orders and Stock units required $1400 in unnecessary add-ons.

My son - and three of my friends - decided to order new-for-2024 Mavericks when the order banks opened. Yet, Long McArthur was not accepting new orders -- especially orders from out of state. Thus, we all placed orders for 2024 Mavericks through Galpin Ford. We went there for three reasons: 1) They offered to sell at MSRP (in writing). 2) They sold the most Mavericks. Consequently, I assumed they would receive the most allocations of any nationwide dealer. And 3) They are an hour away. If my son and I could place his order with Long McArthur, we would have.

My son ordered a Hot Chili Pepper Red 2024 XL Hybrid with the tow hitch, CP360, and SPIBL.

As a Long McArthur member, I heard some customers were not taking their 2023 Mavericks. I realized a 2023 XLT Hybrid with the tow hitch and CP360 in Cactus Gray (my son's preference) was available. Tim (@fordvideoguy) connected us with Chris and arranged a deal we could not refuse. The actual truck appeared in the previous (members-only) lot walk.

My son and I will be flying out on the 17th and driving it home from Long McArthur that weekend. Unfortunately, we will miss Tim and Sarah that weekend. Yet, membership and research pay off... The folks at Long McArthur are wonderful.

I can't believe that your vehicle was built three weeks after after mine, delivered to a dealer halfway across the country from you, then delivered from there to you, and you still got yours the same day I did!

Mine did take the long way from Hermasillo to KC, then to Oregon, then down the coast to SOCAL, then back up the coast back to Portland, OR, and finally to Spokane, WA, where it sat in the rail yard for another week.

I was thinking of hedging my bets and ordering a 2024 with AutoNation as I read an old thread saying they were MSRP, but they wouldn't do it. Ford McArthur Long rolled my 2024 over with the same order number, so they would take out of state but only rollovers I'm assuming. I know he had more people asking than he had allotments.

I too am about an hour from Tustin (unless you are in rush hour traffic). Long McArthur will either fly you out or deliver in some cases. Have a good time at their Dealership. They all are super nice there. I've talked to their finance, parts dept, and obviously sales. All great experiences. Their parts department is who held on to my mud flaps for 7 months while we waited on the Mav to get built. I'm surprised no one's asked but the reason I had it delivered there: shipping was free to dealer or something dumb to me (like $20-30). And then the service department did want some $$ to install it but I wasn't going to pay a shop to turn a few screws for me.

Wow, and I thought my Mav had a ton of miles not on the odometer. I used the Trans union phone number I found on this forum, and the day after it was built it showed it was on rail in the US. By the 4-5th days it was on its way across Kansas, and the railway literally went through Salinas. However, that's not the "depot." The next day it was showing east of Kansas and headed towards Chicago. Within about 2 days of that, I got a call from Chris, "Your XLT got dropped off overnight." They got about 80-90 Mavericks in I believe, so it took them about a week to process it and put it on a truck to California.
So, there's a chance I could have gotten it up to a week before you, but then again, your's could have not sat in a rail lot. Honestly, that's what I was expecting and afraid of for me: sitting in Mexico or Chicago just gathering dust. I think I just got lucky all the way around. The extra time gave me time to clear out the 20' X 20' garage so that I could park the Camaro and the Maverick in it.

Congrats on being a Maverick owner. Love mine and had it since June 2022.

Maybe the only remaining thing you need at this point is a swell MTC decal to properly represent the club.

Two styles/sizes (slightly) are available. See my postings at:

Ohio - Maverick Truck Club Decal (Glossy) | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions ($5 delivered)

Ohio - Maverick Truck Club Decal (Transfer) | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions ($6 delivered)

Appreciate you considering...
