Vehicle(s)
2023 Ford Maverick Lariat 2.5L/Hot Pepper
Engine
2.5L Hybrid
Ordered: Sept 16, 2022
Took delivery: Aug 19, 2023
Mileage: 11,180

Driving: mostly urban but 6-8/yr +1,000 roundtrip to New England; otherwise it sits in the driveway a lot
Gas Mileage: city stop and go is mid40s and can get it over 50MPG. Highway can be in the 40s, sometimes more but you have to keep it around 55-60MPH to keep it as much as possible on electric mode.

Other: First Ford ever, 2nd truck (2010 Honda Ridgeline). Historically, owned Japanese and German cars; American cars owned (GM) had disappointed in too many ways to count.

Overall: really like the quality of the Maverick. People will comment positively on the looks. It doesn't look cheap on the inside (exception: overhead light toggle switch is a cheap piece of plastic and looks it; the floor mats too). Layout, otherwise, is good.

Pros:
* Driver seat is comfortable and love the heated seats and heated steering
* Got the Bedliner and don't regret it to save on scratches. Use tie downs a lot but wish so much the bed was another 6-12 inches longer
* Love the bed lights both above and side lights illuminate when the vehicle is turned off; convenience I didn't know I needed
* Back up camera works well; BLIS cross-traffic alert saved me a few times; Pre-Collision Assist comes on when appropriate and doesn't over react
* 6.5" LCD screen is nicely sized
* Leather wrapped steering wheel: still has a nice feel to it!
* We like the USB ports
* Cup holders may be small for some but I'm not a fan of oversized ones; they are fine.
* I love auto high beam headlights
* Windshield wipers are solid mechanically
* Dual zone climate control keeps me cool and her warm; big check plus
* Drive is fine, solid and stuff doesn't rattle on bumps. its a good ride. Though I rarely gun the engine, I've never been disappointed when I have.
* Everyone loves and sometimes needs a guy with a pickup; so convenient; it ain't big but it gets the job done!

Problems/Issues/Gripes:
* Small scratch on hood edge that only could have happened at the factory or during delivery. Dealer painted NO COST
* Leak detected above rear view mirror. Bad gasket; dealer replaced windshield NO COST
* Occasionally, radio blasts upon turning on car. Not often but it'll be really loud.
* Navigation: good functionality but History is lost upon turning off the car.
* Valet mode: punch in your code to lock the screen to hide your personal settings. However, every time I return and start the car, the screen is already open. Thought I was supposed to unlock from Valet mode first!
* Audio: needs a 3rd row of pre-programmable stations. Why when I'm listening to Sirius XM and turn off the car it loses my channel (no pre-programmable Sirius stations) but does turn on to some random FM station?
* Key fob: too big and easy to drop and doesn't fit easily on a chain. Solution: leave a key in the car and use the keypad for entry and exit; it's a dream!
* Not really a problem: if you leave the car 'ON' and close the door, it will beep twice at you reminding you to turn off the car.
** Directional assistance: when plugging in a destination, you have the option of voice guidance or a chime which signals a turn. I really would love a NO SOUND option please!

Would love to hear others comments at higher mileages.
